Clark Supporters: How would you respond to this?
When I donated to Clark I received an email to sign up to be a recruiter and send out some emails. I did. This the answer I got from a gay couple I'm friends with. I'm wondering if B's fear of Dem's is that she recently inherited MEGA bucks from her recently deceased Dad.

"Hi ********,

E***** just read your email and told me that you've gone off the deep end. I didn't think that could be true, but now that I have read your email, I hope you are getting some help to control these delusions. We don't hear from you for months at a time, and then we get THIS piece of email.

Now for MY response to your email:

Are you freakin' crazy???? The General can't remember the answers he gave last week. Give him money???????? For what, a course in improving his memory? Oy, I would be afraid to have any one of the Democrats take over the reins, as they all sound like they haven't been paying attention to what's been going on for the last 2 1/2 years. They all keep repeating the same rhetoric over and over, most of which is totally unfounded. And did you hear the General ragging about John Kerry's military service and reminding Kerry that he was ONLY a Lieutenant and the General made it all the way to General? Please, R********, at LEAST pick a candidate that is a REASONABLE representative of the Democratic Party's opinions.....but anyway,
have fun with your endeavors on the General's behalf. It's a shame that so many people will be wasting their money. ANYBODY who has Michael Moore stand in his corner will NEVER have me support him. Michael Moore is one of the Hollywood trash mouths who should stick to making movies instead of trying to make national policy.

I hope you and your family are well and staying warm this winter. Take care."
B******

My sister-in-law who is a very liberal Dem simply wrote back:
'Clark?'

11. A friend of mine had a similar response...
"Clark? Isn't he a Republican?"

I then sent her some of Clark's policy papers.

She never repeated that charge :hi:

Instead of listening to mediawhores to check the General out himself, read his speeches or watch the townhalls.

6. What it tells me is
that the rightwing has done his job. Of all things to get upset over..that stupid crack to Bob Dole when Dole was being a jackass. Clark shouldn't have done it, but it's such a minor thing.

It is surprising that a gay couple would be ragging on Democrats.
It's just the weirdest thing. To some people, 9-11 changed their whole personality. Like they have PTSD or something.

8. Clearly a Republican.
No need to explain Clark's response to the question asking him to compare his military record with Kerry's as experience for being President. I've tried. Someone either likes a candidate or doesn't. (And that was one of those not-so-good answers. All the candidates have made them.)

9. Askthem how they feel about a Constitutional amendment
that would deny them the right to enjoy their lives together as a couple, entitled to all the same rights and privleges under the law that heterosexual couples enjoy.( tax breaks, insurance coverage, hospital visitation, survivorship etc..)

16. I went to a convention with E in Columbus, Ohio.
There were other artists there 2 guys who were gay and E and I listened as the 'holier than thou' crowd made disparaging remarks and jokes about them. And the right certainly hasn't made secret their hatred.

19. I agree. Bring it home.
And if they're not interested in that equality, how do they feel about it being denied to THEIR gay friends?

12. Ask your friend if she thinks the media has played fair with gays
over the years.

Ask her if she reads the Advocate?

Ask her if she realises all the stuff she talks about originates with the same people who think gay marriage is a sin or a crime or both.

Ask her if she realises the people she is listening to would just as soon slap a pink triangle on her as anything else.

Ask her if she has a comfortable closet to hide in after Bush gets reelected.

Ignorance can be corrected; stupid is for life.

23. And in that case, lie:
Tell them you changed your mind. Bush is going to win in a landslide, so you're not going to bother to vote. They shouldn't either. There's no threat to their current security.

Maybe they'll stay home on election day.

24. I'm a relative newbie to politics up close and personal.
Sometimes I think I'm the one that's crazy. I don't see what bush supporters 'see'. I was troubled and outraged from Election day to Selection day and onward.

20. oh, she inherited mega bucks eh?
if that's what's bothering her it would be nice if she would say so upfront, instead of the vague attack on Dem "rhetoric" that's supposedly so out of touch, but if she thinks the Dems are coming for her inherited money she has indeed drunk the kool-aid. Anyone who is inheriting money (i.e. did no WORK for it) IMO should shut up and be happy, not worry about how much tax they'll have to pay. But that opinion aside, the estate tax is one of those things that many people THINK apply to them when they don't at all. Without an actual number it's hard to judge, but I'd be surprised if she fell into the same league as the Hilton sisters, to give an example. But if she does, what I said before stands, shut up and be happy.

25. Nothing To Be Done
Nothing you can NOR SHOULD say to his person to discuss the virtues of Wes Clark with them.

You've got a Republican on your hands. Drop and run the other way immediately!

Here is what we all have to remember about Log Cabins and their ilk: Just like the ACLU would defend the freedom to worship of the most obnoxious conservative Christian if the government suddenly became overwhelmingly atheist and enacted "no-faith-based programs," the Democratic Party will stand in stark constrast to the Republican Party as they increasingly become the party of religious bigotry and intolerance.

No amount of money will change that inevitable outcome for your friend. And when that day comes we will still be here as we have all along.

26. I realize that I'm simply stunned by her comments that
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 06:40 PM by madmax
she fears a Democrat winning over bush. I know they're environmentaly conscious, pro-choice, etc. I knew what to reply regarding her accusations about Clark. I'm just surprised that she didn't argue for any other Dem - she'd rather keep the status quo of the the idiot in chief. <sigh>

Thanks all.
