1. I'm hoping some good New Orleanians
explained the text "Judge not, lest ye be judged" to the people. The sign put up by the church shows, I believe, a lack of understanding not only of New Orleans, but of the biblical text to which they refer. Modern scholars I have read and listened to say that the problem of Soddom and Gamorrah wasn't one of sexuality but a lack of hospitality and outright hostility towards strangers in their midst. Hmmm...lack of hospitality and downright hostility.....ironic, isn't it?

7. Ezekiel 16:48-50
Ezekiel 16:48-50 states it clearly: The people of Sodom, like many people today, had abundance of material goods. But they failed to meet the needs of the poor, and they worshipped idols. The sins of injustice and idolatry plague every generation. We stand under the same judgment if we create false gods or treat others with injustice.

In the KJV it is listed as:
16:48 I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
16:50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw .

And the NIV version:
As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done. "'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. (NIV)

According to those, the people of New Orleans that are suffering WERE NOT living in excess, the people who were hit hardest were those in the most NEED. Their comparison is w/o merit, and not based on scriptures. Facts don't concern bigots though. They hate unendingly, without shame.

3. Do you think... Good will overshadowed by sign
Pastor Bennett was quick to point out that the church has helped evacuees by donating clothing, food and lodging, but their good will seems to be overshadowed by the sign.

And one would wonder why,,,, NOT!

6. So what was wrong with Biloxi, according to these sanctimonious
shits?

Was Biloxi a cesspool of sin? Because it got leveled, too. And Gulfport.
And parts of lower Alabama.

Idiots.

Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 08:07 AM by mzteris
I wanted to post on their Guestbook, but my puter always defaults to OutlookExpress which I don't have set up so I had to back out and just send them email.

I sent them a link to this article:

http://www.blackcommentator.com/149/149_think_wise_new_orleans.html

Which if YOU haven't read - you should! It's great!!!!!

I also left them with one of my favorite quotes:

"You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image, whenit turns out that God hates all the same people you do." Anne Lamott

**EDIT** UPDATE:

Cr@p: the email was bounced. You think they turned off their email? Cowards.
