Why not John Conyers for President? |
|
Conyers walks the walk while others just talk. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. Has he any interest in running?

2. He would be my choice #1 |
|
And as soon as I see the first report of pigs flying, I'm going to start hoping for it.

3. The Dem establishment would never let it happen. |
|
Remember how they didn't support Gore in 2000? Asked Gore not to run in 2004... And then punked Dean in 2004?
Conyers would never stand a chance against them.

4. Reason #1 in the real world he wold be assasinated. |
|
That is just reality. His term would be shorter than Kennedy's.

5. Also, he doesn't look it, but he will be 80+ in 2008... |
|
But, I think he would be a wonderful President. I also, very sadly, agree that he would be a prime target for assassination given the rise of White Supremacy on the Right these days.

But, I don't think he'd win in the first place.
I adore John Conyers, but do you think he'd pick up the two or three red states we need to flip to win? Not likely, sadly.

1. He's kicking ass where he is. 2. I think the Legislative Branch should be stronger than the Executive.

Then there's that whole--would Conyers want to try to clean up this mess? Tackling election fraud and the malfeasance of Bush is hard enough.

9. I'd vote for him (in a heartbeat). You'd vote for him. But... |

I'd vote for him (in a heartbeat). You'd vote for him. But millions upon millions of 'Murkans wouldn't because he's not only a "Nigra", he's a "damned uppity one!"
Sorry. We still live in prehistoric times (as is proven hourly these days).

11. He's a terrible public speaker |
|
A great congressman, but his public speaking can put teenagers on cocaine to sleep.
