Katrina victims in same boat as 1932 Bonus Army ...march on DC next?
If history is any template in this situation, those dispossessed by Hurrican Katrina are in an identical situation as the WWI vets promised a service benefit after the war. Their march and encampment in Washington, DC, so embarrassed Hoover that when the military eventually rousted the encampment, Gen MacArthur disobeyed Hoover's orders and used excessive force.

This was America's 'Tienanmen Square' incident, where the military attacked its own citizens peacefully assembled.

This may happen again as the Camp Casey movement assembles, but I'd rename a sub-group Camp Superdome...

What say you DUers ?

1. A great pleasure to meet you Mr./Ms.Debs
your reference to Hooverville is apt. The results would probably be more like Ludlow, though. I have strong wobblie type inclinations.

2. www.bushville.org - 9/11 March to Bushville, DC
9/11 March to Bushville, DC

On 9/11 survivors of Katrina will commit an act of Nonviolent Civil Disobedience by setting up an illegal camp on the Washington, DC Mall. Bushville, DC will stay there as long as it takes to get answers and change.

Visit www.bushville.org and spread the word.

We will camp on Bush's doorstep and make him face us every day until he is driven from power.

Join the March to Bushville, DC. If you can't make it on 9/11 visit us on 9/24.

3. Camp Bushville
Wow, this is so strange (or maybe not) that this should come up; I was just thinking about this earlier--"Hoovervilles" that sprang up all over the country, not just the Bonus Army. They wouldn't even have to go to Washington D.C. either to encamp, just go to Crawford, Texas, much closer. Come to think of it, Babsi Caviar's comment that it was all so "scary" may come true after all: this evil family of oil millionaires/billionaires will face the worst nightmare yet--they will have to face the consequences of what they are and what they have done.
