Clinton NSA Berger sentenced in document case (50k fine, 2 yrs probation) |
|
Plus, 100 hours of community service. He was unbelievably stupid to have done this, but I think it sets a nice precedent for dealing with the Plame scandal.
I think assholes around the White House are puckering up right about now. What they did is SO MUCH WORSE than stuffing copies of documents in your pants.
Come on Fitzgerald, DO IT! DO IT NOW!
NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW
IMPEACH THE LOT OF THEM! You know they were ALL in on it.
I think this is a dupe, but I can't find it anywhere, and the news seems to be really quiet on this. I heard it on CNN but can't find it anywhere online, plus DU has been so crazy lately.
Confession: I joined up after years of lurking, just to be able to finally bring something here, but it took a while to get my post count up high enough! :)

1. Copies of his own documents, mind you. |
|
I've known grown men to sit on documents when no one was looking, then slip them in with their other papers before leaving.

Will this be a textbook case of IOKYAR? |
|
I think the fact that his "crime" was so minor, (like you said, these were copies of his own docs) but the punishment is pretty heavy, (doesn't get much closer to Jail time) should make Karl and Scooter pretty nervous.
Not to mention Chimpy and the Lizard King!
If this is what you get for stealing photocopies, I'm thinking that the penalty for outing Plame is going to be stiff indeed, when Fitzgerald delivers the goods.
Since the Grand Jury's term is up in October, unless they extend it again, we should know soon!
I think this and Katrina will provide lots of fuel for the engine that will steamroll over all these dirty bastards!

2. He didn't stuff them in his pants or socks. |
|
He took copies of documents he had written himself and put them in his briefcase to refresh his memory before testifying to the 9/11 commission. He shouldn't have done that but the crap about stuffing them in his pants and socks is just more repuke lies.

3. All the more reason to REALLY hang Rove and Libby out to dry. |
|
The pants thing always seemed kind of weird, but if he was going to take them, and knew he shouldn't or wasn't supposed to, I believe there may in fact have been trouser stuffing involved.
I wouldn't be suprised if entering/leaving these classified material viewing areas doesn't involved at least a cursory search.
Plus, my understanding is that they claim to have set up a sting for him, but I find that a little more unlikely.
