1. He doesn't like the government spending money on anything
He rips the neo-cons as part of his Libertarianism.

2. Not confusing - the Dems didn't get to read the bill.
Had to vote on blind faith.

7. But Given The People Who Voted Against It...
Do you think that's likely? I think the first explanation is far more likely than yours.

9. I'd go with both in unequal amounts. Don't be surprised if he
votes for the tax cuts.

11. Thought you wanted a discussion - didn't know you wanted to
be insulting.

Which is worse - Halliburtion getting a sweet deal or people in a desperate situation getting no help. Things are not that black and white. What would you do in that situation ?

The Repugs were trying to set up the Dems as obstructionists by denying them info and hoping for a battle. If the Dems argued with them over details the Repugs could point to them as being the reason the money and help was not flowing.

As for the texas liberarian - so what about his vote. His vote was of no consequence - just allows him to continue to be an outlier. Big deal.

13. I didn't mean to be insulting
I'm asking if you think that was the reason he voted against it? It seems like the fact that he is a libertarian is more likely, based on what others here are saying.

4. Mr. Paul is a libertarian
His reasons for voting against funding would be from that point of view.

He may explain his vote on his website.

5. We don't really know how the bill was written; we need to follow
the money.

He's been a very vocal opponent of the Neocons and the Iraq aggression from the very beginning.

6. The small-l libertarians
are disgusted with Bu$h. Paul was part of the Republican Liberty Caucus, a group of small-l libertarians who align themselves with the GOP. All the RLC guys I know are now virulently anti-Bu$h. But they still haven't gotten their heads out of their asses on social issues. Rep. Paul obviously thinks there are some fvcking bootstraps left in NOLA.

10. The Republicans want to hand over 51 Billion Dollars to the Head of Fema .
. . "Brownie" without any oversight by anyone, not Dems nor Republicans. Tom Delay, who should really keep his mouth shut, gave a speech about the finger pointing and how now is not the time, yada, yada, yada, then said they are never able to keep up with all the money. I guess he meant like the faulty bookkeeping in Iraq where they lost 9 Billion of our Dollars. The right do not want to have anything appropriated, i.e., $400,000.00 for food vouchers, 9 Million for health care, etc.

The right just wants Brownie, who has never had this type of money to oversee in his own life, the same man that doesn't even know what is expected of FEMA, the man who could not make decisions, the man who broke laws as soon as all the rescuers saw their little films for their training while people drowned, by telling them not to allow any pets during the rescue, not even with people who only had a pet and no family (Chapter 14, Section 102.1(A)(1)(d) of Louisiana's Revised Statutes, for example, states that anyone who abandons an animal is guilty of the crime of cruelty to animals.) Oh I so hope PETA can sue. Not sue FEMA, but sue the Directer for his negligence. It's like one of the Representatives said, there needs to be a military person in charge of FEMA. I agree.

14. With him, I'd say he doesn't like to spend money,
he's Libetarian, but, all through this administration he's been riding ** for all the very scary things he's doing...he didn't like what he did in Texas either...he's the number one guy to call a dictator a dictator...He's written quite a lot about the program to drug us all, and health care, insurance, the Patriat Act, etc. and how ** is just a scam...

Also, mainly I think, is once again they are rushing through legislation, refusing to let anyone see it or have any discussion...who knows what is in there? They could have added a start-up war on Iran or Syria in there, or money to all their interests with no bid contracts...or limits on size and square footage of any new building (like nothing smaller than 2500 sq. ft. )assuring elite residense...on and on ...
