Given Browns "Qualifications" its time to look at other Bush appointees
We need to look at all of Bushes appointees and see what their "qualifications" are before they can do the damage that the head of FEMA has wrought. How many "Friends old roomate" type appointments has Bush made and congress ignored? Now would be a good time to bring up this "issue" as people are having serious doubts about Bushes third world methods of choosing people to fill important posts.

1. BRAVO, or BRAVA as the case may be.
Our press usually did that in deacdes before, but they lost their spine until 8 days ago.

2. Here a couple I just googled
Bush appointee linked to terrorism: Otto Reich, a Cuban exile, was nominated by the US president this year as under secretary of state for the western hemisphere
http://www.guardian.co.uk/bush/story/0,7369,608019,00.html

Bush nominates official cited in Air Force leasing scandal: The nomination of Michael Wynne to be Air Force secretary comes amid a continuing struggle by the Bush administration to win approval from the Senate for its top Pentagon nominees.
Those scandals included allegations of rape and sexual harassment among students at the Air Force Academy and charges of a hostile climate at the school against those who are not evangelical Christians.

3. I think I read here on DU that 20% of Fema employees
had criminal convictions! (100% of the WH employees SHOULD have criminal convictions)

4. Brown was voted in by both Congress and Senate -
- wasn't he? Where were they on all this? Didn't anyone at least check his resume?

Heck, I do that when someone applies for just an entry-level position.

5. Time to Question Bush's Leadership
The Republicans are always boasting about Bush's leadership qualities. Why doesn't someone ask him this:

Obviously there are many qualified people in the Republican party who are very experienced in keeping our country secure and providing emergency protection to Americans in times of danger. Mr. President, what qualifications did you see in Michael Brown that made you conclude that he was the best man for this job?

(America...START QUESTIONING Bush's leadership abilities! Merely bragging about being a good leader... doesn't make it so.)

9. I really think that the Bush admin picks the biggest asshole they can find
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 08:45 PM by niceypoo
take Bolton for example. It seems the only reason they chose him is because he totally completely lacks any compassion or human understanding. IHe was the biggest prick they could find. Its as if they are saying "The worse the better".

6. We could begin by looking at all the civilian war appointees that
never fought in a war. They are not qualified to send or lead us in that area. All those draft dodgers should be home in their armchairs. Then there is the appointees to the Dept. of Human Services! I suspect they have no real understanding of the people they are working with.

8. Very true. Including the UN. Brown was put in place to diminish FEMA
and look what happened. Bolton has the same job at the UN. Think what the crisis will be at the UN that causes the end - ???? WWWIII, some nuclear bomb.

People in the WH are cycling like delusional nut-bombs. We have to investigate every single appointment. And then watch the appointments like hawks if we cannot get rid of them for "incompetence".

Every person Bush has put in a place of any importance..we have to investigate.

10. Sorry to dump but, "the President deserves the team he wants"
How many times have you heard that mantra from Democratic politicians? That it's a firm principle that unless the people being appointed are so far beyond the pale that even diehard members of the President's party have difficulty voting for him, that he must be approved because the President was elected and deserves to run the executive branch as he sees fit, even if that means running it into the ground, except in the most egregious situations? i.e. this Brown stuff isn't bad enough. He'd have to be a cannibal or something to fail confirmation, with Holy Joe running the committee.

So what do you think you're going to do finding problems in other appointees' qualifications? In Congress, the only qualification they require is that Bush nominates them. That's it. That's all she wrote.

11. those people are working for us, the taxpayers
... I have already included in my latest messages to legislators the fact that I want Brown to return his entire salary, which he STOLE by doing absolutely NOTHING in the position for which he was hired by We The People. The People deserve qualified people for the sacrifices (ie taxes) they are forced to make for them, in return for their public service.
IMPEACH, INDICT, IMPRISON the ENTIRE BUSH ADMINISTRATION
