President's Approval Rating Dips Below 40
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050910/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_ap_poll

"WASHINGTON -
President Bush's job approval has dipped below 40 percent for the first time in the AP-Ipsos poll, reflecting widespread doubts about his handling of gasoline prices and the response to Hurricane Katrina.

Nearly four years after Bush's job approval soared into the 80s after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Bush was at 39 percent job approval in an AP-Ipsos poll taken this week. That's the lowest since the the poll was started in December 2003.

The public's view of the nation's direction has grown increasingly negative as well, with nearly two-thirds now saying the country is heading down the wrong track"

Damn!!!! Maybe he ShOULD become a cowboy or Spaceman, cause the Prez thing ain't working out...

3. A spaceman...well, aren't we planning some space exploration?
Like Mars or something? I think NASA is diverting funds from climate/weather research to Mars exploration. That's a viable position for a take charge kind of guy.

13. 40 is clearly his high at the moment
Just about every poll after Katrina have shown him at or below forty (or within two points of it).

16. Sorry for being negative about this, but . . .
It doesn't matter right here and right now if he's not "popular".

He's still in the WH and the Congress is enabling him.

GWB with low ratings reminds me of a holdover tenant who hasn't paid rent for six months, won't leave the house, and you can't evict him right away. Yeah, he's in the wrong. Yeah, he's in trouble. Yeah, you can find someone to agree with you over him. And yeah, maybe you can get a court order to make him go away in the future. BUT HE'S STILL LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE AND HE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE UNTIL HE WANTS TO LEAVE OR SOMEONE MAKES HIM GO.

In the meantime, you're paying taxes on a house without income or hope of compensation for late rent, paying utilities and water, maybe he's even trashing the house so it's useless when he does go.

65% think we're on the wrong track. Me, I think that 35% are delusional.

22. This is a very important number
It signifies that the luke-warm conservatives have come to their senses and Bush is down to his completely clueless 40% base. We are now seeing the slow erosion of the base. When the base starts jumping ship, the end is near.
