I hope the final NOLA body count will be ZERO... |
|
I just wanted to get that out of the way for the Republicans out there who will say (have already said?) that Democrats are HOPING for NOLA deaths for political gain.

1. I am wondering since CNN is in that all the |
|
others will also be allowed in the view the handling of the bodies. I hope we get an accurate count. We need the truth of what happened in NO and Mississippi....

2. The freeps are something, aren't they. |
|
They are the ones who hate america, and by the miracle of projection, accuse us of just that.

3. They have it backwards - a low body count HELPS us... |
|
The more bodies they find, the more the evacuation problems before the hurricane can be questioned. A low body count will indicate that Nagin and Blanco did a pretty reasonable job evacuating the city and providing shelter.
The more serious problems, which were out there in the open for all to see, were the lack of response time in providing relief to those who were sheltered or stranded. That's where FEMA's ineptness comes into play.

6. Well now that it looks like it will be much lower than expected |
|
they'll say we are "disappointed" that there weren't more dead.

7. Well, on the contrary... |
|
Like I said above, this means that we can congratulate the evacuation efforts, and put the full brunt of our criticism on the relief efforts.

9. What about the fact that many were not evacuated? |
|
It is the unevacuated that many feared had died while waiting for Fed aid.

8. I hope that the number we're given |
|
will accurately reflect the number who actually died. At any rate, the official body count is already in the dozens, it's way to late for it to be zero.
This isn't about political gain, it's about honesty. If these fatalities are not handled in a transparent fashion, then people will be entirely justified in suspecting a coverup. This is not about our side exaggerating deaths for our political gain, but about their side covering them up to protect their own polical hides. Ultimately, their side is the one that plays politics with other peoples deaths.

10. They will still say it anyway |
|
And, now they will say that your post hoping for no deaths show how detatched from reality we are.
Not that I'm attacking your post, I certainly appreciate your point and share your hopes that the death toll is much lower than the anticipated figures.
The thing is, though, there is nothing we can do or say that they won't use against us, either by twisting our words or inventing their own quotes if necessary.
