A New Opposition Party. Discussion!
This post is, somewhat, in response to the last few weeks of reading and responding to calls for a new opposition party here in the States, since our own party leaders fail so miserably at being an opposition party.

Concerning the Media.

We should be leading the call for media in America to report the news and only the news. No celebrity weddings, no personal editorials to stories. In shows that are considered editorial or magazine, then there shall be both sides argued within that show. It is known as the fairness doctrine. Furthermore, radio jockeys are forced to get a required rebuttal and are forced, punishable at first by fines and finally by termination, to give whole quotes and respond to them thusly. As for newsprint, the editorial page will offer both sides of an issue. Finally, this is the reinstitution of the "Fairness Doctrine" that Reagan signed off with an Executive Order.

Concerning Abortion.

Are you, honestly, pro-Abortion? No one likes to see or hear about a baby being terminated in pregnancy. However, the statistics aren't there to support illegalizing abortions. Rather, during abortion periods, adoptions increase, teenage female death and child abuse cases decrease.

This leads into sexual education and access and instruction in the use of birth control, which is better than just saying "don't do it."

Concerning Same-Sex Marriage.

Are they adults? If the answer is yes to the question, then what is the problem? This goes into mandatory age for marriage, which should be 18, since a marriage is a contract in the eyes of the government.

Concerning Health Care.

All health care that is necessary (no plastic surgery just because) will be covered by the United States government, no questions asked.

Concerning Separation of Church and State.

All churches will be recorded, with their knowledge and can deny this access and pay taxes, for verification that no political discourse takes place from the pulpit. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in the tax exempt status being pulled away for six months, a year and finally, until the pastor leaves the church.

Concerning Education.

All public education will be free in all facets. There will be equal access for all within public schools. All schools will be required to wear mandatory uniforms that are purchased from the county store, so that no student will be marginalized as being poor. Since freedom of expression is taken away in dress, freedom of expression will, again, be taught in the classrooms.

Concerning the Military and Other Service Agencies.

The Pentagon as we know it shall be closed and each of the wings will house different facets of the government: Education, Health Care, Interior, Transportation and finally the Military. The CIA, NSA, DHS, and other groups will be streamlined with the Military and spending on the military will be diverted to education and health care.

Concerning How The Government is Ran.

All discourse in the government is public knowledge. All loopholes in campaign finacing will be closed and attention will be given to people that want to run for office instead of being a career politican. Governmental audits will occur every three months so as to insure that the government is on its budget and will remain so.

(There are things that I am missing, if so, please add them, sorry about the length of the read, but I think this will be good. DISCUSS THIS PLEASE!)

1. One modification.
Re: plastic surgery. That should be, "no elective plastic surgery except to rectify disfigurement."

2. investments
infrastructure, especially aging inner cities, mass transit, energy research and pure science.

as well as an absolute ban on anything that smacks of some sect's perverse views of this planet's age being closer to 6,000 yrs rather than millions of yrs.

Discussions of a third party are better suited to someone else's bandwidth.
