MSNBC: Bush, "eager to show hands-on leadership in the recovery effort"...

NEW ORLEANS - President Bush, eager to show hands-on leadership in the Gulf Coast hurricane recovery effort, joined commanders working from a military ship docked in this flooded city on Sunday.

The president was spending the night on the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima, which is serving a control center in the relief efforts.

It was the third trip to the area for Bush since the hurricane struck two weeks ago, and coincided with the fourth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the other major disaster on U.S. soil that his administration has been forced to confront.

The trip gives Bush the opportunity to “continue to assess the situation on the ground and visit with those who are overseeing operations on the ground to hear from them” about immediate needs and future recovery and rebuilding efforts, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

5. Did he ever leave the ship? Did he go downtown on a little
boat and go through the different neighborhoods? Did he see any of the "refugees"? Oh, wait--the underprivileged.

7. Leadership should have been shown
on Monday when the hurricane hit. There was none. He went to bed after the LA governor called him pleading for help.
Nothing he can do now will redeem his failure. It is too late to close the barn door after the horse is already out.

Bush's history is failure and he continues in that tradition.

Also photo ops do not equal leadership

9. "This administration is great at managing PR not so good at
governing." I think that is what Barack Obama said. I love Barack, he's such a stand-up intelligent man.

14. Eager to SHOW hands-on leadership, eh?
That's about all he can do, SHOW us anything, but his leadership affects none one, and nothing where it is needed. Of course he's eager to SHOW us leadership, but its usually just shit his handlers arrange. We dutifully digest it and wonder why we get indigestion from CNN images of destroyed families, cities, abandoned animals, toxic sewage, aerial views of massive environmental degradation in the Gulf. SHOW us any leadership at all, Mr. President.

15. That cowboy belt
with the silver buckle makes me want to puke.
The ship is docked right in front of the Convention Center. The same one where three babies died of dehydration and a 7 year old girl was raped and had her throat slit one week ago. :argh:

25. My my, how quickly things can change.
Why, only a mere few days ago, Bush couldn't give a rat's ass about New Orleans.

"New Orleans". Let them drown. For God's sake, I'm still on my vacation. I've got to go to John McCain's birthday party, and pick up a Presidential guitar and pretent to be a rock star".

Jeez, how quickly he changed his tune. Suddenly, HE CARES. He cares A LOT about the blacks. Could it be because they actually are a viable force in this country?

And they actually have some clout?
-------------------
If you look closely at Bush's face, you'll see desperation there. Get up close, and you'll see tiny beads of sweat on his forehead. His eyes are bloodshot because he's having trouble falling asleep at night. He laughs, he smiles and tries to act cool.

He knows: his number's up.

The only way this clown gets his hands dirty is when he

What's with the blue shirt? I thinks it's the same one he
wore on his previous visits to NO.

31. He looks like an aging frat-boy idiot in that second pic.
Notice how no one is standing near him? Not the Mayor on his left or the Vice Adm. on his right. Yet Mayor Nagin and Lt. Gen. Honore are in very close proximity -- which probably speaks to their close working relationship.

Also, everyone's expressions are serious, except frat-boy's. He looks like, "Damn, so what am I supposed to do here?"
