Dean made 2 vital points last week: No to Roberts, stall bankruptcy bill.
On CNN he said this about Roberts:

"John Roberts' legal career has been about taking away every protection for young girls and women who want to participate in sports, for African-Americans and Hispanics, who want the equal same right to vote as everybody else, for taking away for women who believe they should determine what kind of health care they have, instead of having politicians do it.

His entire legal career appears to be about making sure those folks don't have the same rights everybody else does. That's probably not the right thing to do two weeks after a disaster, where certain members of society clearly did not have the same protections that everybody else did because of their circumstances. Americans are fair people and they want a sense of justice. I know Judge Roberts loves the law. I'm not sure he loves the American people.

]BLITZER: So should the Senate reject his confirmation?

DEAN: Based on what I know now, absolutely, yes

In Miami he called for the new Bankruptcy Bill to have an exemption for the hurricane victims.

"Dean said that instead of considering proposed estate tax breaks, the Senate should channel the money into disaster relief.

"Shall we give that to the wealthiest people in the country, or should we rebuild New Orleans?" Dean said.

Dean also urged the government to exempt victims of Hurricane Katrina from a stricter new bankruptcy law for one year."

We should call our Democrats to urge this be done. It will be disastrous if they stick to the bill strictly. Since all of our Florida leaders voted for it, I have a lot of calls to make.

2. Let's see how many "Democrats" break ranks, as usual....
Disgusted with this party. I think Dean is being used...he speaks to people like us ready for change; meanwhile, the rest of the bunch take the organization he puts together and will misuse it and us....You just watch.

4. This would be an amendment to the abominable bankruptcy bill already
signed into law. Feingold has introduced a bill in the Senate to exempt hurricane Katrina victims from the bankruptcy bill which takes effect next month.

Surely, Frist won't try to block this bill, but don't count on their coming up with some reason like banks and credit card companies are already cooperating with folks hit by Katrina.
