Im getting more and more disgusted with the Dems in power. If... |
|
If that is still possible.
On top of all they have allowed.
If they allow this negligent homicide, wholesale corruption and disaster profiteering to continue without fighting it with everything they have, Then they are worse than useless.
This tragedy not only further exposes the vileness of the neocon administration but the cowardice and ineffectiveness of our so-called 'opposition' party.

2. We'll have to rebuild the Democratic Party "out of the ashes" |
|
Until we get rid of the Corporate Whores who masquerade as Democratic Representatives, the average Democratic American Voter is being SCREWED!
I'll stay at home before I vote for another sell out DINO. I think Ralph Nader was right, there isn't much difference between the Parties because they both *worship* multi-national corporations and a one-world order.
These bastards are ruining our once great PRO-LABOR party and they must GO!

Repugs control the House, Senate and Presidency. That is why we are so screwed.
Dems are not in power.

6. This is only half-true. |

Yes, Republicans have some big majorities and much control, but...
There are plenty of bi-partisan committees in Congress where things are decided. And states and courts have power, too.

even in the bipartisan committees, the party in power (the Repubs) have the chairmanship and more seats than the minority party. So, even there, there is a limit to what the Dems can do.
And I don't know about your state, but in mine, the Repubs hold the governorship and control the legislature...and the Dems again have little power.
And what, exactly, do you mean by the courts? You referring to elected judges? Any that are appointed these days, are likely to be Repub-appointed.
I agree in theory, on being anti-DINO. But, if the Dems won't run a progressive, there's little choice. DINO or Repub. Unless the Greens run a candidate (they didn't run any in Missouri in 2004, that I know of) Which leaves...what? Write-in? Libertarian?

http://www.voluntarytrade.org/downloads/Brown_ConfirmHrg.pdfDon't go with libertarians, though. They are infiltrated by corporatist right-wingers. They get assaulted with rw propaganda from the kato institute which is owned by rupert murdoch.

|
A dem can propose whatever he/she wants in a committee. But if the repugs want to kill it,they do and it will never see the light of day.

15. Committee rules change |
|
any chance of changing that particular committee rule? IMHO representative government is taking a back seat to the majority party's exclusive priorities.

19. I'm sorry, but having barely 50 votes for two years in the Senate does not |
|
equal "being in power", at least not to me. Ands sadly, we lost that parity in 2004. Sure, they could have rejected him on a party line vote back then but Bush would have merely replaced him with another hack. However little any of us like it, Bush holds the title of president, has a majority of both houses of congress (at least until November 2006) and has the right to make appointments.
I don't like it either, but the Democrats do not currently have the power to do anything more than obstruct-and even that is very limited.

16. "You must want Republicans to win!" |
|
How many times have we heard this IF we complain about the lack of leadership or opposition to Bush in 'our' party?
We've come to expect so little from our so-called leadership that some rank and file Dems actually get excited if they pen a 'policy statement' or threaten not to attend a rigged investigation.
We've been watching the Bush Pirates LOOT our treasury for four years now. We've also watched as our own party has done nothing about it. It's hard to understand and many of us are beginning to suspect that certain Dems are getting a share of the booty in exchange for keeping quiet.

20. Dems are doing a great job. They are being seriously sober. They |
|
are letting the experts, the victims & witnesses tell what happened.
Bush is still looking for a scapegoat & he couldn't find one so it looks like "making Bush just plain dumb" is the spin.
Will not wash.
