"It smells so much like cronyism, people are still sleeping on floors"

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - U.S.

President George W. Bush, on a tour of devastated New Orleans on Monday, rejected charges the government was slow to respond to Hurricane Katrina because most of the victims were black or because the nation's military was over-extended in
Iraq.

"My attitude is this: The storm didn't discriminate and neither will the recovery effort. When those Coast Guard choppers ... were pulling people off roofs, they didn't check the color of a person's skin. They wanted to save lives," the president said.

But in a new blast at the administration, civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson said the government was now discriminating against local businesses by ensuring that big corporations with close ties to the establishment received all the major rebuilding contracts.

"It smells so much like cronyism and you've still got people sleeping on floors," Jackson told Reuters.

1. he's wearing his blue "workin' hard" shirt (and devolving)
before he visited Lott and a few "finders" in Biloxi, I predicted he'd wear a (light) blue checked shirt--and he did!

5. I hope Jesse and others start shouting about...........
the corporate cronyism alive and well DURING the Katrina disaster. Halliburton got their contract before the people got food and water, for crying out loud.
