6. Why? A little bipartisanship never hurt.
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 02:20 PM by nickshepDEM
The guy is going to be confirmed. Im gonna' say somewhere between 80-85 votes. The next confirmation will be the big one. Bush will try to sneak in a straight wingnut to replace O'Connor.

12. Anyone notice how..
Roberts has this really dumb looking grimace when the Democrats talk, and a phony smile when the Repukes talk? He really seems like he should be with Bush. Trusting this guy even less than before.

17. I heard him just say something to the effect of...
a judge is not a politician who can promise a certain result for a vote! Isn't this the same guy who refused to recuse himself on the case where the administration wanted military tribunals for prisoners at Gitmo, when he knew he was being considered for a seat on SCOTUS?

Already lying.

20. Last I heard, no Democrats needed to be present for the committees to
function. Is this correct and the case? There was an old rule that there had to be one member from each party. However, I heard that that no longer was the situation.

21. So do i understand the "Compromise" correctly that the decision
to filibuster or confirm rests (essentially) in the hands of the Compromise 14?? Any word as to what they have decided? Have they decided that Roberts can be filibustered or not?
