7. They're beating up on a female while claiming they couldn't send troops
into LA because they'd be perceived as beating up on a female. (See the New York Times article from Sept 9, Political Issues Snarled Plans for Troop Aid.)

These guys are masters of the twisted message.

8. Three worse polls are:
1) Gallup.

2) ABC/Washington Post

3) Rasmussen.

Those polls are always favoring Bush and GOP. No matter what.

17. Like when Gallup overshot Kerry's number last year
and predicted 49%/49% in the popular vote...

Or when Rasmussen got the popular vote pretty much exactly right....

That's really favoring Republicans....

9. This is disgraceful, if true...
But, if it was manufactured, and part of a PR "lift" for Bush... CNN should be ashamed for running it.

This is such BULLSHIT!

15. Interesting. On CNN website, it says his Katrina job approval is 43%.
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 04:28 PM by flpoljunkie
They do not even mention his overall job approval in this article about the latest poll. It did report that 70% wanted independent investigation and that no one in the Gulf Coast affected by Katrina's devastation had been called for this poll. Interesting, Wolfie did not mention his Katrina approval.

Poll: Respondents dissatisfied with Katrina response

Monday, September 12, 2005; Posted: 4:54 p.m. EDT (20:54 GMT)

President Bush and Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco leave the USS Iwo Jima to tour damaged areas Monday.

(CNN) -- A majority of Americans surveyed disapproved of President Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina, a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll found.

In the survey, conducted September 8-11, 43 percent said they approved of Bush's handling of the crisis, while 54 percent said they disapproved.

<>Seventy percent of respondents said they favored forming an independent panel to study the government response to the storm.

The results were based on telephone interviews with 1,005 adults and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent. Researchers did not try to call some areas of Mississippi and Louisiana that were declared federal disaster areas following the storm.

the # of dems and independents, as usual. Gallup is the horse's ass as far as polls go, imo.

23. weekend polling (like that) biases Republican

Weekend phone polling runs Republican numbers 10-15% higher than during midweek. Younger people and young families are out doing stuff. It's easy to see the 4-5 point bump in Rasmussen pollings.

Correcting for that, it would be a 40-42% outcome if taken midweek- well in line with all the other polling.

they'll be back in the bed with their corporate buddies soon! Another "Rove Goes Wild" tactic. The USA today polls are notorious for banking republicans in their surveys.
