9. Speaking as a native Pittsburgher
who has subscribed to the Pittsburgh PG for years, IMO Jack Kelly is one of the biggest Repuke horse's asses alongside of Fred Honsburger, Jim Quinn, and of course Limbaugh, Hannity and 0'Rielly. I really hate it that these last two are Irish.

2. blah, blah, blah............I have yet to hear a response to
the question: "Why didn't they drop food and water, like they did in Indonesia?"

Yeah, yeah about the logistics of getting all those troops and equipment mobilized and able to enter the region, but why couldn't they just drop food and water in the meantime??????

Has anyone here heard any response to this question?

4. It is the new talking point; I saw an earlier thread about an article with
virtually the same wording.

5. his last questions goes right agains the local authorities
Yet he does little homework to find out that an evacuation was done by the Mayor of New Orleans utilizing the buses in NO.

And he doesn't answer why no Federal Authorities stepped in to take charge of the local law enforcement who were preventing citizens from leaving during the worst days.

Ot may take days to get troops mobilized, but it takes hours to get a plane down there with someone to TAKE CHARGE of the mess--no authority=chaos.

Oh and if he wants to go on that spin, why doesnt he explain why Bush declared a state of emergency on the 27th but troops didn't begin mobilizing til AFTER the levy broke?

FEDERAL AUTHORITIES KNEW THE LEVY WOULD BREAK, but did nothing to prepare for that disaster then Bush got on TV and said "DUH, who knew the levy would break *SMIRK*"

6. what about the shut ins, the bag ladies,
the physically challenged? New Orleans is a big city, and to adequately evacuate it would have required everything the authorities had-but the authorities were hohum
a DU'er said that taxmoney should be spent freely on katrina while FUNDRAISING can be used to fund the piggy war in iraq! is that a good idea, or what?

10. Crack...or something else. Damn. This was my favorite:
"The federal government pretty much met its standard time lines, but the volume of support provided during the 72-96 hour was unprecedented...faster than Andrew."

!?

12. Another asshole conservative claiming to be one of the "grown ups"
This is the same shit-headed sneering at liberal arts majors that's so hackneyed it literally reeks. Engineers aren't the great god-kings of the universe, and people who study various forms of communication are hardly all useless potheads.

It's hardly as if many of those entrusted to lead relief efforts have technical degrees anyway.

This is classic Republican tripe: dismiss any critics as self-indulgent children while proclaiming oneself as the stalwart and mature champions of society.
