Another fantastic editorial by E. J. Dionne of the Washington Post
It is entitled, "End of the Bush Era."

The Bush Era is over. The sooner politicians in both parties realize that, the better for them -- and the country.

Recent months, and especially the past two weeks, have brought home to a steadily growing majority of Americans the truth that President Bush's government doesn't work. His policies are failing, his approach to leadership is detached and self-indulgent, his way of politics has produced a divided, angry and dysfunctional public square. We dare not go on like this.

Here is the rest of the article. A great read!

2. Ha ha ha
I like peanut butter, but not in desserts, if you can believe it. My favorite ice cream is Mint Oreo Cookie (along with mint chocolate chip). Yum.

Bush will NEVER listen. He is deaf when it comes to any criticism!

3. skilled in identifying enemies?
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 05:44 AM by teryang
He and the have mores who supported his coup d'etat and his phony black ops created pscyho war on terrorism are the enemy.

He's succeeding in destroying social security with the six percent plus inflation he's created with his unfunded budgets, war profiteering debts, tax cuts, and fiat currency mortgage bust.

to the right of the editorial headline. Probably a coincidence?

On edit: now it's gone. It was an ad for lower mortgage rates.

13. NOT! NEVER WAS... Never Has Been!
E.J. has always been called upon at PBS to give the LIBERAL point of view.

You must be thinking of someone else!

18. Chris Matthews puts him up against Deborah Orin from the New York Post
One of the things I love about E.J. is he always stays calm. Deborah Orin is getting all emotional and sometimes she won't even look at E.J. when he is speaking. I cannot stand Deborah Orin.

10. I think this is bullshit. How can the "Bush era" be over with the
Supreme Court being destroyed as we speak? With most Dems still playing along? With the DLC commandeering the party? With the GOP not jumping ship at this point?

The Bush era will be over when Dems who matter win a real election. Let's see what happens in 2006. Let's see if they can make any inroads. So far, I'm actually doubtful. Jonathan Turley says they're in DISARRAY in the Senate on Roberts, which is just indicative of the many ways they're in disarray on most things. They need a "coach" to organize them into a cohesive force. They need to look at a Krugman article like the one he did on FEMA--how many FEMAS Bush has created--and make that a core issue to coalesce around. If they can't adapt this simplest of concepts, then forget it.

19. Don't you think that
special cicrumstances (what Fitzgerald digs up) could mean a temporary rescission of the life-time service of the judiciary appointed during Bush's tenure.

Maybe there will be a coalition government until honest elections can be held.

11. I liked the fact the article was total unemotional versus what most
of us are reading/feeling/saying. Maybe more folks out there will listen. You're right - he is conservative but not a fundie. I worked there for 15 yrs and he is well respected as a man and a writer. He hasn't even tasted the Kool-Aid!
