Where are the minority contracts for cleanup? |
|
Why aren't any of the cleanup contracts going to minority companies in the affected areas?
Since most of the people who lost everything, especially in the New Orleans area, are minorities wouldn't it make sense that companies owned by and employing local minorities should have first dibbs at doing the work?
Makes sense to me.

1. Because there are no minority companies that are friends with |

2. good point, and this is what the media should start ......... |
|
focusing on as well.
- How Halliburton got their contract before the people got food and water.
- How Bush lifted Davis-Bacon act which means contractors can pay workers below minimum wage, yet he didn't cap profits by his buddies.
The Gulf states should be pitching a fit about this.

3. Didn't you know that Halliburton is the only company |
|
in the universe that knows how to build things? Just like they were the only company in the universe that could be hired to rob us blind in Iraq. Bush has already given multi million dollar contracts out to rebuild the Gulf Coast. He did this before all of the dead bodies still bloated with water had been removed from the disaster zone. Our great Christian leader asked himself "what would Jesus do?" and this is what he came up with. New Orleans will rebuild for the wealthy white people to move back and the poor blacks will be disbursed throughout the nation. His goal has been met with the exception that he hoped the death count would be much higher since they were, for the most part, Democrats down there.

Why use Iraqis in Iraq? According to Bremer, it would have offered too much to former Baathists. (who are now the biggest segment of the insurgency)
Why use minority contractors in NOLA? Same reason, it would offer to great a base to repair the infrastructure.
Besides, Haliburton is hurting.

I think this should be a major issue.
But I don't expect much from this administration, sadly.

7. Yes, affirmative action is a dead rabbit in the Bush Administration . . . |
|
and the U.S. Supreme Court didn't help in any way re minorities in government contracts. It keeps nibbling away at it over the years.
