Biden: "Go ahead and continue not to answer"
I know some of you guys are not high on Biden, but he just cracked me up. He was asking questions about abortion and said that Ginsberg HAD answered the question and Roberts was dancing around it. He interrupted Roberts and Specter told him to let Roberts continue and he said, "Ok, go ahead and continue not to answer."

1. Roberts is stonewalling -- big time. What an ass.
But I fear the dems will capitulate & confirm him anyway.

4. Biden is doing a good job. Roberts is a woman-hating pig.
And I normally don't like Biden.

5. Well, that was enlightening.
Would you like to add to that? I don't know that much about Biden, so maybe you could help me out and tell me WHY you think he is a moron?

14. I don't really like Biden either personally and I am not a troll,
He tends to be way too "politic" for me. He talks a good talk, but when it comes down to it, he doesn't seem to me the man of action or principal. His fingers are too deep in the rich folks pockets too.

Now if you wanna talk about Gore... :)

34. I think Biden is an idiot, too
Go ahead and call me a troll.

He supported the bankruptcy bill, he voted for IWR, he sometimes says nice things for his base to hear, and then runs off with his PNAC party bullshit.

He's a fucking moron and an idiot.

Okay?

31. Who's not reasoning?
Biden did the same thing to Bolton, asked tough questions, made it clear he should not be confirmed..........THEN VOTED FOR HIM!

That's the role you think Dems should play?

and that's about it. He'll crack his jokes and lampoon members of royalty but he's still paid by the king at the end of the month.

7. Biden handled the man....
he had him sounding like he had cotton-mouth from nervousness.

Biden pushed him back a couple of times.

I would be standing up and applauding but "I think you're a straight-shooter, you've got my vote" is still ringing in my ears (in re: Bolton - he grilled Bolton good, got piss-poor answers, and went ahead and helped get him onto the floor anyway)

that was sheer corruption.

Biden seduces and abandons. Someone else can believe in Hairplug Joe if they want to.

I just wish he put his political capital where his mouth is. He is intelligent and effective - if he went for the kill, I would love him. But he doesn't.

And you're right about his political smarts. It's just that he's too willing to use them for evil rather than good.

He's one of those guys I'd like to get behind, because I do think he's a tough SOB when he needs to be.

Anybody who voted for that bill is a bad person.

So what I am getting is that he talks a good game, but he is actually politically spineless?

Biden voted against letting the Bolton nomination out of committee.

You've got it wrong.

20. I don't care for Biden, but that's a cheap shot
Biden and every other Democrat fought tooth and nail to reject Bolton. Without another Repub to reject Bolton, there was nothing he could do to keep him off the floor.

15. I loved that too!
Email I sent to some media folks who were being critical of Biden:

Roberts is dodging the questions. Spectre should stop telling Kennedy and Biden to be quiet.
Former FEMA director Brown was confirmed without anyone figuring out he had no experience in emergency management.
Let the Senators do their work. I think Senator Biden was extraordinarily powerful in his questioning.
We need answers, especially at a point in history where the radical right wing has been dominating all 3 branches of government.
And while corruption in voting and in the executive branch are so clear.
Don't you all get it? We are about to lose our Democracy.
Some of the media witnessed for themselves the horror of Katrina, and therefore saw the lies that the right tried to propagate about their role in it.
Well, some of us have been watching them lie about almost everything for years, with little if any challenging from the media.
Let me tell you that as much spinning as you saw from the right re Katrina, it is only standard operating procedure.
Witness the Downing Street Memos, Karl Rove's exposing Valerie Plame, and all the dirty tricks etc that make Nixon look mild by comparison.

22. I agree that the content of Biden's questions were forceful.....
But IMO, his approach stunk.

If Biden could have questioned Roberts without getting as "dramatically" excited, I think that the results would have been much more effective to the average viewers.

In otherwords, Biden's demeanor somewhat distracts from what he says. Being combative is one thing, but to have appeared not to let Roberts respond didn't look good regardless of what Roberts was NOT saying.

Although we at DU hang on to every word and understand quite well what Biden did, I think that a lot of viewers, who may just have this on as background or are not quite as knowledgable won't end up giving Biden those brownie points that he may have deserved (in this case).

27. I go back and forth about Biden. As a Kerry supporter,
I'm of mixed opinion about Biden's commitment to the party, as opposed to his own ambitions (I've heard varrying stories about things good and bad Biden has done in relation to Kerry and the bad tales have sorta tainted my opinion of him). But he kinda pulled one out here.

32. Biden is great in front of the TV Cameras.
His votes are payment to his Corporate Sponsors, not the people.

Republican GREED has now KILLED more Americans than Al Qaeda!

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.
