Did anyone expect gas prices to come down more than ten cents
when the US Strategic Reserve was brought online?

They're selling at record prices. How nice for them.

1. prices here have gone from 2.57 pre katrina to 3.38 post
and back down to 2.89 for most stations. I did see a couple today at 2.79 and two BP's at 2.69 in the northern Detroit suburbs.

4. The gas companies have you trained like Mice.
Gas went up to $3.49 here in West Michigan. Gas is now back down to $2.86 and we think it's a great deal. The next spike will go closer to $4.00 and when it drops back to $3.49 we will say what a great deal.
We are trained like Mice and the gas companies know this.

5. ROFL
Prices went up here in Northern AZ and remain up. Not a one-cent decline at any of the about five stations I take note of.

7. Here in the NE suburbs of Atlanta
The low price for regular was $3.15 Labor Day weekend, and this AM it was $2.65, about what it was pre-Katrina. A few stations still seem to be out of the higher-octane fuels, and the BP nearest my house was totally out of gas until Friday PM. There are 4 BPs between home & office -- two of them were out of gas most of last week, and the other two had all grades. Interestingly the only stations totally out of gas after Labor Day were BPs.

Heard on the radio yesterday that the Lundberg Letter forecast a price drop of $0.10 or so over the next week or two.

8. In a word, no.
I hope that you all realize that the chances of petrol ever being priced below $2.00 U.S. are slim to none. Welcome to the non-U.S. gasoline experience. Fuck you, general SUV owners. Fuck you squared, Hummer owners! Ha Ha! The revenge of the vehicle-less is at hand!

21. Dropped about $7.00 per barrel. At $64.55 right now....
Edited on Thu Sep-15-05 12:12 PM by OneTwentyoNine
High back on 8/31 was 70.39. Got as low as 63.13 on the 13th,back up to 65.41 yesterday.

The price at the pump should have dropped 60-70 cents per gallon IMO. It's gone down about .50 around here but it still shouldn't be at these levels.

15. Lots of variation across the country, but still near record prices.
Gas went from about $3.05 (highest I'd seen in West LA) back to $2.95 or so for regular.

The LA Times mentioned that Bush also rescinded the clean air act for refineries until tomorrow.

16. And of course, the reserve requires a refill. Wildlife reserves, anyone?
Where were they going to drill, but met appropriate resistance? Alaska? The Arctic?

And will this be amazingly profitable as well?

18. gas prices
The gas prices wont come down while the major oil companies are making record profits. or until bush gets out of the white house. Those things will probably occur about the same time
