Republicans are now getting busy following Katrina
Lowering wages, for New Orleans reconstruction, by suspending the Davis-Bacon Act:

http://money.cnn.com/2005/09/08/news/economy/katrina_wages.reut/

Awarding no-bid contracts for their cronies:

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/10/katrina.contracts.reut/index.html

http://online.wsj.com/article_email/0,,SB112648366967837577-IZjgYNllad4nZyuZoCHbqeJm4,00.html

Now how does all this fit in with "compassionate conservatism" or "free market"?

Hummmm?

1. Bush WANTED as much damage done to NO as possible....
Thats why he and his cronies sat on the ass as long as they could. No serious damage to New Orleans,no $$BILLION$$ contracts for Halliburton/KBR and the usual suspects.

This guy is a fucking criminal.....

2. Nine bucks is too much
$9 per/hr (prevailing electrician's wage in NO) would cut too deep into poor Halliburton's profit margin. I mean how greedy can these workers get...jeeesh. Thank you George for heading off that kind of anti-capitalist/share-the-wealth mentality. I mean these tax dollars really need to go where they belong...into CEO investment funds and not for the poor workers to rebuild thier lives.
I suppose next, those affected will want the jobs of rebuilding...keep dreaming.
:sarcasm:
