How local officials prepared for Katrina

As Hurricane Katrina barreled through Florida and turned northwest toward Louisiana, state and local officials revved up their preparations. A timeline of events begins four days before the storm struck the state:

Appears to be Part 1 of a two-parter with the 2nd part coming tomorrow?

Looks like the locals did about all they could. Couple this with Brownie's "heck of a job" and the Knight-Ridder uncovering of the Chertoff memo and it's clear who fucked it up. The same people who've been fucking this country (and others) since Jan. 2001.

1. One big thing that happened to throw a monkeywrench into the local
emergency response was this: at the NOLA Emergency Operations/Communication Center in downtown NOLA, during the hurricane a piece of glass from a skyscraper fell down onto the roof of the building, where the emergency generator for the Center was sitting. The glass punctured the generator's radiator and the generator failed, therefore the entire emergency communications system failed. It took almost 3 days to get word out and get the thing replaced.

No link...........I think I saw this on wwltv.com or NOLA.com.

No wonder the thing was such a clusterf--k. Nobody could communicate AT ALL, and nobody knew what was happening anywere else. Poor Nagin and Compass. I may not like Nagin too much, but I don't think this little complication could have been anticipated by anybody.
