About Bush "taking responsibility"
After reading about this every place yesterday, I finally watched the news video... He was with the Iraqi president and almost as an after thought: "Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government, and to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."

But since this is rare for this administration, everyone marveled at it. There is something to be said for low expectations.

1. Excellent point
The nation bleeding severely is not a bad thing. Just think, it could bleed to death, but it hasn't so we are all good.

2. Yes. Bush merely admitted his job description,
not that anything wasn't perfect.

He is still leaving open the possibility that yes, three days is enough for FEMA to take step one, and that two weeks passed without a single wrong move.

Now THAT'S low expectations: that we can't expect any better next disaster, either.

3. Shall we talk about how sincere that statement was? You could tell he
did not want to accept responsibility. He gave EMPTY WORDS. It's about friggin time he accepted some responsibility.

I wonder when he'll award Michael Brown with a Medal of Freedom.....

4. It had nothing to do with remorse, approval ratings, or expectations

He "confessed" because he wants to "solve the problem" by getting Congress to agree to giving him expanded powers during a disaster!

5. reminds me of an alcoholic.......
Hi, I'm George and I'm an alcoholic

and then after the meeting he opens up his glove box and takes a swig of hooch, only in this case; Hi I'm George Bush and I am an incompetent...........and keeps doing the same thing, over and over again. My partner said to me (regarding bush), I'm so happy we aren't Americans and I said Chad; he is our problem; he is the world's problem. peace.

6. Shakespeare's Sister had a good take on it
Sideshow George Pouts and Shrugs
…and expects America to applaud him for it.

Jeezy Creezy. Watch this video of Bush “taking responsibility” for the Katrina debacle. He might as well just have said, “Karl says I’ve got to say the buck stops with me, so … whatever … it stops me with me or something I guess. Even though it wasn’t my fault, or any of my buddies’ faults, either. Whatever. This sucks.”

Go to your room until you can behave maturely, young man, and don’t come out for another three years.

Great blog, BTW
