This is their last chance to win on something. They've lost on everything else. Roberts opposes the right of innocent children in Guantanamo to have a trial and opposes the Violence Against Women Act. His wife works with an organization that advocates murdering doctors. This is the test for the Senate. If they can't win here, what can they win on? If Roberts gets in, I want a refund from the Democratic Senators who are supposed to be representing me. They haven't earned one penny of their salary (except Barbara for January 6th.)

1. I'm afraid Roberts is a fait d'accompli
I doubt if there will be more than 20 votes against him.

2. Yeah, but.... 55 to 44....
No way we're going to win on Roberts... They even think some of the 44 Dems will vote for him..

Seriously..

4. Unfortunately, Democrats are just dead meat right now.
We'll lose everything - including Shrub's next SCOTUS appointee (likely to be Janice Rogers Brown). Sad but true.
This could change in Nov of '06 if the Senate would return to Dem hands. Control of the House is unlikely, but it could happen if the party and rank-n-file dems would focus more on the congessional elections than "who is going to run for Prez in '08." I really get dismayed over the bickering in here sometimes for or against Hillary, etc. Control of Congress should be the main focus. I mean, wouldnt it be a breath of fresh air not to hear the names Santorum, Sensenbrenner, DeLay and DeWine anymore?

5. I'm working on it. I'm working on it.
Right now, I'm trying to get DFA funding for the guy challenging Sensenbrenner, Bryan Kennedy. Gonna fight like I think I can win!

Here, now that I'm thinking about it...

HEY PEOPLE, GO VOTE FOR BRYAN KENNEDY OVER AT DFA, OKAY? Here's a link:

6. What are the rules - can we vote from another state?
I can honestly say that ever since his appaling chairmanship of the Iraq abuse hearing I hate that pig Sensenbrenner. I saw him today on C-span and he treated Sheila Jackson-Lee like she was a "field nigger" (my apologies for using that word, but that's what came to my mind as he rudely ordered her to yield so he could continue his pompous control of an amendment process. (But she kept her dignity, refused to yield and finished her statement).
Yes, Go Bryan Kennedy!!

7. There doesn't seem to be any rule against anyone voting for anyone
Just whoever's opinion on who should be supported. At the end, you are invited to send the link to your friends. Nothing is said about keeping it in state.

Knock yourself out, I reckon.

10. And with Roberts, as someone pointed out, the power on the court stays
the same. With O'Connor's replacement, it likely shifts.

8. They cannot. They made the agreement. Why do you want us
apathetic? Dems need votes to have power. Focus on the 2006 fight and raise money to get your spirits up.

The truth is getting out. It escaped. We have hope.

14. Reality check...
There are a few Democratic senators that WILL vote for Roberts. Why? Because they WANT a more 'conservative' Supreme Court.

15. Thats not a fair assumption.we all know that Judge Retards is ...
going to be confirmed because the Dem's are outnumbered.I am still believing for a democrat to win the White House in 2008. I also am believing that Democratic Congressmen and women, Senators and State Reps will increase thanks to grass Roots projects. so, no all is NOT lost for the Democrats. Not at all.

16. We *WILL* lose on Roberts. Accept it.
And there really hasn't been any reason to have Democrats in Congress
since, oh, about December 12th, 2000 (when they demonstrated just how
readily they'd fall onto their knees for the Republicans).

17. Dems are 'saving it' for the next round besides...
There is NO WAY Roe v Wade will be overturned. Republicans will kill Roberts and make his family disappear before that happens.
