Senate Supreme Court confirmations: what a freaking joke!
Has anyone been watching this? I watched some last night. All it is, is republican rants and raves about Terri Shiavo and abortion then turns to Roberts and says, "I know you can't answer any of this" then goes on to rant and rave some more. I never saw any democrats last night but I'm sure they are doing the same thing. This is a complete joke. No one is asking any questions, at least none that they expect to be answered. Too bad democrats are being slammed for this sham when it's a sham all the way around. We all know he's going to get confirmed. Let's just do it and move on to gas prices and getting out of Iraq.

1. Actually, the Democrats have been trying to elicit responses

and Roberts dances like a professional politician. He proclaims any and all of his writings and cases are strictly the result of his clients'/bosses' position, not his. Then he proclaims that all they have to do to get to know 'who he is' is to look at his writings and body of work as shown in the "80,000 pages given to the Committee". But we can't look at those, because he was just being an advocate for whomever was his boss.

4. Has anyone asked about Hamdi vs Rumsfeld
and his participatory rulings in favor of WH at the time they were considering him for SC Chief?

Have not read anything about a Senator questioning him on this. Maybe they have and I missed it..

5. Yes. He danced.
Schumer tried several times on that one. Roberts said "can't comment on issues that may come before him."

3. hmmmm, maybe we *should* drag this out
Otherwise they'd be trying to get that national sales tax they so dearly want and hyping up Iran's military capability.
