Did anyone watch Newsnight after the speech: 1700 kids separated from |
|
parents/caregivers? They showed photos of kids - babies to teenagers, who are separated from their parents/caregivers. Sometimes they have the baby and are looking for adult, and sometimes have adult and are looking for baby. They showed one family, separated from 3 year old son who was with a babysitter when mother had to go to hospital for dialysis. They were able to bring them back together again.
They showed another young mother, looking for her baby and the baby's father. The baby was with the father at the time of the flooding, now two cannot be found.
Heartbreaking. So for all the talk about the floodwaters going down, we need to focus on connecting these families. Anderson Cooper said it should be shown every night.

1. So why don't we have a unified Missing List like they had in 9/11? |
|
Every night after 9/11 they would report the size of the Missing List, the number of dead identified and those found alive. The list got smaller and smaller until it was down to about ten (then they stopped reporting on it). We should be doing this for the missing due to Katrina. It would certainly help these families.

2. I watch these things and I think it is my age |
|
I can recall the children of Europe after the second world war and I have never got it out of my mind. I often wondered what happened to them all. I have heard that the children that we taken from London did not fair to well.
