Bush's Speech? - A bid to Repair a Presidency...
<snip-Huffington>
The main text of President Bush's nationally televised address last night was the rebuilding of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, but the clear subtext was the rebuilding of a presidency that is now at its lowest point ever.

Hurricane Katrina struck at the core of Bush's presidency by undermining the central assertion of his reelection campaign, that he was a strong and decisive leader who could keep the country safe in a crisis.

2. Katrina also struck at his war and economic policies. When we now need
money at home, because of Katrina, where is that money going to come from, since we've spent so much in Iraq and on give-to-the-rich tax policies, such as the tax cut.

And btw you all must have noticed how quickly the RW shut up about repealing the estate tax.

So that's emergency preparedness, war spending and tax cuts...all shown to be abysmally bad in terms of the policies themselves and/or the implementation.

Three strikes you're out?
