What we can stop/are stopping because of Katrina
Katrina, for better or worse, has hobbled Bush in many ways. For example, his plan to destroy and privative SS is all but sunk, and the Estate Tax repeal vote has been delayed. I know this will sound inappropriate to the general public, but Katrina has given us the opportunity to stop almost all of the Bush agenda, if we are aggressive.

1. Roberts nomination. Unfortunately, it seems likely as this point that we can stop him, one thing that can taint him and drive up his negative ratings publicly is if we remind people that he is a CRONY, just like "Brownie." People have gotten sick of Bush appointing his buddies but need to be reminded that Roberts will do the SCOTUS what Brown did to FEMA.

2. Class warfare. If was ever a time now to incite what they call "class-warfare" now is it. Why should we let Paris Hilton and Bill Gates get a tax break when the people of New Orleans, and our soliders in Iraq could use the money? A new poll shows that a majority of Americans are worried about the cost of the war, and public support for Bush's tax cuts has always been 50-50 or slightly opposed. Now is the time to stop him from bringing feudalism to America.

3. Kill off the "Norquist-Cato" philosophy of "shrinking government so it can be drowned in a bath tub." However, this is a contentious issue, because in the long run, the public may actually trust the REPUBLICANS to protect them because they have been physcologically trained to think that Dems are the party of inefficient government! For example, Watergate in the long run, according to some historians, helped Regan get into power because of a general distrust of big government. We need to remind the public that it was BUSH'S SMALL GOVERNMENT policies that hurt FEMA. We can turn this around and set back Grover Norquist and the Cato Institue for another generation.
