German Elections: believers in power of positive thoughts (pls post them) |
|
Tomorrow the German elections take place. If, as I believe, the removal of the rogue regime/s must be an international effort, we must see an electoral victory for Schröder and the SPD tomorrow (over Merkel, CDU)
(Merkel, die Ferkel: bad, bad little piggy, GO AWAY!)
This thread is for people who would like to post prayers or positive thoughts in that direction (of whatever denomination, and in whatever language)
Here is mine:
Religion: Ojibwe Language: German
Pfui! Poof! Weg damit.

2. I've been obsessed witht his election for weeks and I have |
|
been very disappointed in the media coverage. FT, BBC, et al have been disgusting in their pro-Merkle spin.
I can't believe that the media has all framed this as merkl=growth and schroeder=stagnation.
And I especially can't believe this while I'm reading Sen's Development and Freedom which makes an excellent argument that conservative economic policies actually kill development by just about every measure (happiness, health, life expectancy, education, reduction of number of poor people) except incomes of the top 1%.

Being a fairly typical product of American Public Education, I am geographically challenged, basically I don't have much of a clue about the rest of the world other than a few limited personal travel experiences. However my very much geographically knowledgeable German friend (even more so than regular well traveled Germans - as she has a Masters in the subject) - has this to say after several mails discussing the merits and her thoughts on the election:
"First time ever that I will give my vote to the Social democrats and the Greens - I just do not see Merkel and the Liberal Democrats doing any better and I like the present foreign affairs positions and the criticism against Bush. And everybody elected will have to deal with our 5 million jobless citizens and the companies leaving the country to find cheaper "human resources" in China or elsewhere. I want to see them completing their reforms and programs and in 4 years I will see better if they were doing any good (and Bush is hopefully gone as well). I think this will be a better time for a change if we need one. "

4. It annoys me that Bush screws up the world |
|
and it only helps conservatives who say that they'll provide a sorely needed change from the current governments that are suffering because of America.

I did all I could. At least the polls suggest that we'll carry the district. I hope that we'll carry far more than predicted, though. http://www.election.de/PDF: http://www.statistik-berlin.de/wahlen/bundestagswahl-2005/stimmzettel/sz77.pdfhttp://www.statistik-berlin.de/wahlenO god, I am really afraid.

7. People vote according to their religion |

in Southern Germany.
CDU and CSU traditionally are Catholic parties.

9. That might be one of the reasons I chose to stay |
|
'up de Waterkant' during my time. The Mosel was about as far south as I could comfortably go; further and I became increasingly uneasy about the religiosity on display. I have to think it significant that Hitler got his start in Bayern and his first moves were into Austria and the Sudetenland: RC-majority populations that welcomed the Nazi message that in Hitler they had a Leader and saviour.

And what's more, my favorite German SOB Freeper quisling, Michael81Dus, is so saddened by the outcome that he inhaled an entire bottle of wine and starts ranting about how unfair the German voter is!
