When Clinton talks, he knows what he's talking about and it shows in his facial expressions and body language. * on the other hand, stumbles over his words and fidgets, pretty much like a kid with ADHD!

You know he actually cared. And I remember about two weeks ago Joe Scarborough was on talking about FEMA and was praising Clinton for who he put in charge of it. I was really surprised.

and was one of our greatest presidents. This "all-or-nothing" attitude here is funny. One day "fill in the blank" is the greatest politician ever, the next day he or she is a huge DLC sell-out.
Politics is messy. The only people with ideological purity in politics are dictators, whether on the right or left.

8. I love him...and he pisses me off. This guy... |
|
He is the single best communicator after listening to him for 4-5 minutes that I've heard period. JFK was the best from minute one through the end...he was like a lightening bolt, the 4th of July, and the the first movement of Mozart's Jupiter all rolled into one, to put in perspective. But Clinton, if you listen for a while, he is so damn good and he's brilliant. The part that pisses me off is his amnesia, he's from Hope, AR not Chappaqua, NY; from the sticks not Westchester County (which I love btw). Bill, damn it, come on home among the rabble, the tired, lame, pissed off, and great masses of Americans and, for once in your life, get really mad in public, feel our outrage and project it. You know you want to;)

I also know if he had been president on the Monday of Katrina he would have been directing traffic and calling the shots and busting his presidential butt to help those people. I watched him on Larry King the other night and marveled at how he responded to the question on Cindy. I would give almost anything to watch him in a debate with Chimpy....oh my!....what fun that would be!!!!!!!!!

right now I want somebody to express the anger and grief I'm feeling over New Orleans--both the hideously mishandled "rescue" efforts and the years this country wasted when we could have been preparing and preventing. And although Clinton puts all the arguments beautifully , he's so controlled and apparently rageless (best actor we've ever had in the White House) I'm currently impatient with him. I want somebody to SCREAM the truth. I want a whole lot of somebodies to scream the truth.

I don't care what he's ever done with his penis, or with his cigars for that matter.
One thing I can't for the life of me figure out is why so many people think George Bush is a man of the people who likes nothing better than to clear brush and ride around in his pickup truck, when in reality he was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth (and later up his nose).
Bill Clinton, on the other hand, is the real deal. Working class, small town background, not much money while growing up, worked hard to achieve his goals in life.
I don't understand why so many people with backgrounds exactly like Bill Clinton's hate Bill so much and love the Connecticut Cowboy (who, though they will never believe it, looks down on them).

Perhaps one day you'll get your wish and opposing views about Clinton and his RWing buddies won't be allowed on DU or any other website.
I won't bother to reply to your intimation that I'm on the 'same side as Rush, etc'....except to say that your nasty comment is worthy of the best RWing Smear Artists. Don't look now...but it's YOU that has adopted their tactics of trashing others for their opinions.
The Clinton DLC has made Liberals and everyone to the left of Lieberman the enemy. Well...I say fuck them all...because we're not going to stand by and be silent anymore so that the DLC can shove another corporate candidate down our throats.

I didn't trash you. I merely noted that you and they agree. And then I asked you how you felt about that. I note as well that rather than answering the question or attempting to reconcile the seemingly contradictory rhetoric, you chose instead to dodge and then divert the "attack" by mirroring it. Oldest trick in the book.
So how do you feel about being on the same side re: Clinton as those individuals? Will YOU get up with fleas as a consequence?

...a fucking loyalty oath to Clinton?
I defended him for eight years of witch hunts, inquisitions and the RWing misusing our legal system. But I don't feel the need to defend him anymore. You and the rest of the idol worshippers can go ahead and worship him and trash anyone who doesn't like his 'third way' politics.
And actually...Clinton is closer than I am to the group of RWingers that you mentioned in your attempt to belittle my post. He's the one that's rationalizing the takeover of the 'free press' by the corporate-sponsored media and making excuses for the most corrupt White House in this nation's history.
The 'oldest trick in the book' is smearing dissenting opinions as being aligned with that of the enemy. Rove would be proud of you.

...pisses me off. Sometimes I don't agree with him at all. But I always respect and admire his good heart, incredible intelligence and leadership. No one has more reason to be angry, hate and seek revenge. But, he doesn't and that shows true character. He's a modern Will Rogers who has never met a man he didn't like. If he were capable of rabid hatred, if he spewed vemon...he wouldn't be who he is. It's too bad that so many Democrats follow the black and white, "you're either for us or against us" way of thinking. So anyone who doesn't stick to the left wing talking points or isn't attacking the other side at every turn, must be one of THEM! One of the reasons I'm a democrat is because we are diversified, open minded and free thinkers. I respect a person who thinks for themselves even if I don't agree with them.
George Bush's approval rating is at an all-time low...and he is sinking fast. This didn't happen because our democratic leaders were constantly calling him an incompetent idiot. This happened because Bush PROVED HIMSELF to be an incompetent idiot. Our dem leaders need to get their act together on issues and policies and prepare for the big 2006 take over. Let Bush bury himself and take his cronies with him. Our people don't need to get their hands dirty. Certainly someone with Clinton's class and statemanship doesn't need to get down into the filthy mess that is the Bush Administration.

I long for the days of a true leader and someone who I can at least respect. I still remember at the opening of his library he gave a speech and asked if he was the only one there who liked both Bush and Kerry. I personally was like "duh!" I guess because of all the lies and the murdering of innocent people. *Sigh* And then Poppy and Barbara Bush calling him a "son" and stuff. *Sigh* But I still am always thankful that I grew up during the Clinton years.

I listen to the guy, I think about how Bush's occupation of the White House must eat away at him, knowing how much better Gore would have handled everything.
My next thought is that in terms of former-presidential activism, whatever Bush does is going to pale in insignificance next to Clinton. I'm pretty certain Bush is just going to join the boards of a variety of government contractor type corporations and go back to Texas and do lines off of Condi's shoes.

I miss him so much. I miss having a real president. He was the best president in my lifetime. No politician, no person, is perfect and we shouldn't expect perfection. He was probably the closest to perfect we'll ever see in a politician, though. He's a statesman, a scholar, a caring, empathetic, well-spoken man. He knows how to work with people -- both other Americans and people from other countries. He know how to gain consensus (except with Republicans while he was in office, obviously). The fact that he's sexy as hell was just a bonus, but not necessary.
I wish so much he could be elected again. Through his new Global Summit, it sounds like he's still working to make the world a better place and I have confidence he will succeed. I didn't love seeing Wolfie there, but the others were impressive and varied.
It's so good to see him around a lot again. It must be burning Bush up (burning Bush? Hmmmm...that sounds like a good idea.)

60. i love clinton! he moved me....to a bigger house! |
|
i hate clinton primarily for his policy in haiti.
also his bombing of a drugs factory in the sudan to take attention away from the lewinsky scandal.
these are just the tip of the iceberg. i'm sure i can find a lot more if pushed
just another lowlife us president

64. It Was Interesting to Listen to Him |

His speeches were obviously less frivolous than that of the ordinary politician. In an interview or press conference, you could actually see his intelligence and articulateness. Consider him as opposed to the illiteracies of Reagan, Bush I, and of course Bush II...is there some law of nature that Republican Presidents have to be morons? I disagreed plenty with Clinton, but he was a remarkable man and remarkable President.

65. Nice to see a DLCer admit he has warts. |

You're more intellectually honest than some of your fellows here. Kudos to you for that.
But I can't join in on the love-fest. Don't loathe him, certainly don't love him. Angry with many of his policies.

All politicians have flaws. No one will agree 100% with what a politician says or does. But, Clinton bashing gets old real quick on DU. It's tiring and non-productive.
Clinton's the best president we had during MY lifetime. He was the first president I was old enough to vote for.

I am pissed off by the Poppy connection but, OTOH, that only gives him more credibility with the numbnuts when he attacks W. Anyway, what he did for this country no one can take away from him.
