Why I hate Air America
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 09:57 PM by patrioticliberal
1. The stupid coffee commercial where she spills her coffee on him and screams in her obnoxious voice.

2. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR MUSIC ON THE STATION . SORRY STEVE EARLE. I want to hear LIVE, current talking.

3. When Randi Rhodes is away or Majority Report hosts are away, I don't want a rerun of something from last week, yesterday, or last month. I want a fill-in host to take their spot. TALK CURRENT!

So there's nothing to listen to except a really annoying Karel right now.

BEN, HURRY UP ON YOUR STATION!

1. No, you can't go to the park.
Go to Mrs. Huffman's instead.

No, I am not easier on your brother.

31. Even if all your friends are there.
I was listening yesterday, and saying the lines along with the commercial every time it came on. :)

They need new commercials, STAT.

2. Seems to me they've been having more fill-ins and less "best ofs" lately
When someone is out.

Sundays are different. You're supposed to go to church then, though, not listen to evil liberals on the radio.

Then they raised their hands like they were heiling Adolph Hitler and just held their hands there. It was scary!

I've seen them eat bread and wine and sort of say that it was flesh and blood. That's strange enough, but hey, I sometimes wear a maid's outfit... well that's not important. Anyway. Hoo boy.

There are enough people in this crappy red state who bash every religion except Southern Baptist, please don't do it on here too. I grew up in that religion and I am nothing like Hitler. There are plenty of religous democrats on this forum no need to insult us.

18. I simply described what they were doing.
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 10:41 PM by Mr_Spock
Why should that bother you?

My next door cube mate at work calls them cannibals for pretending to eat Jesus, I didn't use that sort of language.

They held their hands up exactly like the "hiel Hitler" salute and then proceded to pledge their allegance to a mythical figurine on the wall. It was scary as hell!

You can call that bashing if you want - I wasn't impressed with the service and was simply recounting the jist of what they did there.

Edit: oh, and this was a Catholic ceremony so I'm not sure why you thought I was talking about Baptists?

on bashing religion, when it is religion.

When religion crosses over to politics, as in poltical sermons fro the pulpit, then they are fair game.

But, we cannot be about negativity towards any denomination.

Good people with faith in their heart care about progressive issues, this has got to be a unifying American movement, and religion plays a big part in America.

There is a thread here about RW political-religious groups
would love to hear your ideas.

14. It Sounds Like Talk Radio--Even The Voices
I hate the yelling at the microphone thing. Other stations convey ideas, even ones where people are excited, without sounding tinny and phony--. And WAY too many commercials. I ain't buying that stuff--and they don't want to lose me on the ideas, right?

17. What really bothers me are the conflicts of interest.
For example, all the commercials for, say, Merck or Bristol-Myers Squibb (to use just one of many examples).

How often are we going to hear in-depth, hard-hitting truth about the abuses of Big Pharma on AAR, when Big Pharma helps pay their bills?

Hence, I don't tune in often. Give me Pacifica any day.

you can listen to any show at any time you want.

You know sometimes you can't get EXACTLY what you want. You learn that when you grow up.

35. Podcast them with iTunes.
iTunes is free. Podcasts have no commercials. You can choose who to listen to, so don't subscribe to Steve, and save some bandwidth for the rest of us. Ben Birch also uses iTunes for Thom Hartmann and Guy James, also commercial free. All he asks for is a donation. AARPlace is free.

Hartmann filled in for Majority Report, Malloy and Flanders filled in for Randi last week, and the Iraq Vet guy filled in for Malloy 3 days last week. They're doing a lot less best ofs these days.

All objections overcome. No excuses now.
