5. Read up on Hyenas
They're probably one of the most vile mammals on the planet from a human point-of-view.

A scorpion's maternal instincts are at least admirible.

You would be strapped to find something nice about hyenas...other than the fact that they clean up after predators.

The cockroach, however, only looks out for it's own interests....

10. am I confusing them with Jackals then?
As I recall there was a rather unflatering documentary I watched on one of the two. I followed it up with some reading.

12. You probably did see a documentary on Hyenas
I watched a bunch when we were gearing up to make "the lion king" at Disney feature animation. Most WERE unflattering, but there was one very through documentary that followed a single pack that had some new revelations about hyena society (it was recommended by Jim Fowler, our wildlife consultant). I wish I could remember the name of the film, but that was more then ten years ago. :shrug:

9. reminds me of their commercial with the wolves in the background...
