What is happening with the ACLU Abu Graib photo case?
I have been out of internet reach for two weeks.
WTF is going on with that case????

I have not heard anything about it since I got back.

2. Here's an article from the ACLU dated 30 Aug:

Last I heard, the judge was having second thoughts about releasing the pics and video. Haven't heard anything recently.

3. I think the case is under advisement
The judge ordered the release, the government filed a motion for more time to go over the photos and videos to protect the identities of the people being tortured by our troops (although I'm sure most of the victims know they were tortured), and so the process has stalled for now. The court can take something like 90 days to issue an order from the date of the hearing before one of the parties can write a "reminder" letter to the judge. After another 30 days, one of the parties then writes to the federal court's judicial committee notifying them of the judge's failure to issue an order.

We could easily be waiting until the beginning of next year, or more likely, the dead week between Christmas and New Year's, a popular time for the Bush family to dump unpleasant news (like Poppy's pardons of Cap Weinberger, Eliot Abrams and the rest of the Iran/contra figures about to go on trial back at the end of 1992).
