Poll question: Is Hillary Clinton going to run for POTUS in 2008?
None of us can be totally certain about whether she is going to run.

But, what do you *think* she's going to do?

1. Your question should be, "Is Hillary going to keep her seat in '06?"

If New Yorkers think she's going to cut and run for the Presidency, it's not a forgone conclusion.

4. I don't think that'll affect their votes much, unless they're
given an alternative Democrat to vote for.

7. Oh yes it is...
Nobody has better political instincts than Bill and Hillary Clinton...

Hillary will win in 2006...by a wide margin...minimum 60% of the vote going her way!!!

5. Stop, stop, PLEASE stop!!
Enough about Hillary in 08!! I don't give a flying fuck any more!! We need to make ground up in 2006 before we can even begin to consider 2008!

6. It's okay. We can still do that, even though
I made this poll.

Relax.

10. So ignore the threads.
There are plenty of other topics available.

Just because you don't care doesn't mean that no one else does. Though, obviously you do give a "flying fuck" or you wouldn't have bothered with this thread in the first place.

Ignore is your friend.

11. Ignore is not your friend.
We should ALL be focused on 2006. It's not just about me and my not caring - NO ONE should be looking that far ahead right now. 2006 is far too important to fuck up by wasting time on whether or not someone is going to run for President three years from now.

14. I disagree. Short-term planning is part of our problem.

Yes, we need to focus on '06, but waiting until the '08 election cycle to decide what we're going to do then is not going to help.

If we're going to win in '06, '08, and beyond, we need to consider long-term strategy. We've "lost" the past two presidential elections in part because we tried to morph our party into whatever it was that we thought people wanted at that moment. Instead, we should be looking to develop a long-term identity that will win us elections now and in the future, on local, state, and the federal levels.

And, no offense, but many people can discuss more than one topic at a time. There's nothing stopping anyone from working on '06 while considering strategy for '08.

13. I surely hope not....
Then we may as well make it three for three.

I obviously support Kerry. But I'll take Feingold, Clark, Biden, or anyone over Hillary. Heck, even Lieberman.

She's too risky, and polarizing for my tastes. Plus her desperate ploys to move to the middle, and/or the right haven't really floated well with me.

15. According to DC staffers
Hillary already is running for president in 08. She has been for some time now.

17. I make no bones about proclaiming my progressiveness
But I have analyzed Hillary's voting record, and it is not that bad. Last year, she was 65% of a progressive, which puts her somewhere in the upper middle of Democrats progressive-wise. There are many worse, including practically the entire field of Presidential hopefuls with a D by their name.

She is as far right as I go....period.

And she is 15% less of a Democrat than Kerry, for those of you who wish to know where she stands versus our last attempt at the WH.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/9/10/133312/333

If she gets the nomination, she gets my vote. I also reserve the right to withdraw it based on her record from now until then, as well.

For 2006, we need to replace our House and Senate Democrats on the lower end of the progressive scale with more progressive Democrats during the primaries. We need to fry some conservative Dem butt to let 'em know we are not going to put up with complacency any more. Some, like Hillary, are starting to get it just this month.

Leiberman, on the other hand, deserves nothing.
