Sept. 24th Rally, San Jose: Photos of "Bush" promoting event TODAY...
I was driving in San Jose and saw this woman on the corner of Branham & Meridian. I had my camera with me and asked if I could take some photos. I told her about Democratic Underground and said "by the time you go home tonight, these photos will be in front of millions of Americans."

She said people are throwing cans and bottles at her from passing cars.

I DID NOT ask her name, out of respect for her anonymity (that and the fact that I'm a stranger with a camera and thought she was a good sport for letting me do this)...

ONE PERSON makes a difference today in San Jose.

2. Throwing cans and bottles at her?
I occasionally see rightwing protesters (not nearly as often as I see progressives). Never in my wildest dreams have I thought to flip them the bird, let alone throw something at them. That's assault, isn't it?

5. Hard to say who it might be, though
Just flying past on the street, I would be hard pressed to determine whether this person was pro-Bush or anti-Bush. The signs have kind of small print, though the demonstration itself is ingenious, and I like it.

But who is most likely to throw a can or a bottle? Peacenik liberals or Chickenhawk conservatives?

8. You can see one of the cans in the photos...
...there was also an Aquafina bottle. While I was there I heard a couple of horn honks but didn't see anything thrown. And yes, it IS assault.

9. She was so cool, so positive, so INTO IT.
I told her about DU (I went home and printed out the front page of the Web Site and brought it back to her), pointed her to "General Discussion: Politics," and told her what the title of the thread would be...so I really hope she checks in here tonight and sees her photos.

It started to rain here a few minutes ago, so she packed up shop. I'll check over the next couple of days to see if she comes back, and to make sure she found DU.

I used to live very close to that intersection, and I still work near there. Yes, it really rained hard yesterday. I hope she doesn't get discouraged. Others should join her!

7. this is WONDERFUL!!!
Gave me a laugh I needed.

Good for her and thank you for posting it.

BTW, being San Jose, I'd suspect they were throwing cans and bottles at BUSH, not at her.

10. That's just down the street from where I grew up
About a block from my old Junior HS (where I saw Clinton Speak in '96). Hmmmm, that's not my mom, is it? Nah, she's too tall...
San Jose trends towards the liberal side of things, but there's a fair share of dittoheads and rich tech millionaires w/stock options who think they're protecting their wealth buy supporting Bush...

Thundering now, time to sing "my favorite things"...
(Thunderstorms are fairly rare in these parts)

12. San Jose is definitely more liberal than not
There was a very big turnout for the Cindy Sheehan vigil a while back here in San Jose. I attended and we got a ton of honks, thumbs up, and waves. However, we did get some jeers, thumbs down and middle fingers, as well. But the vast majority were supportive.

HOORAY for this brave woman!!!

I don't keep the big signs up for long at my house- just the little ones. I try to find the large ones a better place.

17. OHMYWORD!!!!
This is so amazing!!!

I have been so depressed lately, about BushCo and the endless trail of destruction and lies--but this is a glimmer of hope in the darkness.

I am truly in AWE of the person doing this!

I can't say enough about her. How extraordinary!!

It's one thing to speak out against Junior. It's another thing to dress up like him and carry those signs.

Those signs!!!! They are hilarious!! So truthful.

Was she getting any positive feedback????

If I saw someone doing this in my town, I would stop my car, get out and hug them to death!

Wow!!! This really made my day!

Nominated

...I did my best to thank her and tell her I admired her for what she was doing. I really hope that she checks this thread, as I encouraged her to do. Then she'll truly know what kind of an impact she had today.

"Do NOT go to the Stop the War March & Rally"

Priceless!

Oh, and the thought of "Bush" having breasts? Not so farfetched ...

"Something fishy is happening in the headwaters of the Potomac River. Scientists have discovered that some male bass are producing eggs—a decidedly female reproductive function."
