We the people ... have no voice. 80% want independent Katrina commission
and we won't get it. The system is broken.

By more than 4-to-1, Americans want an independent panel - not Congress - to investigate the government's response to Katrina.
-----------
More than 2/3 of us also support a woman's right to choose whether to terminate a pregnancy and that right is endangered as well by a small minority (the "immoral minority).

Most of us favor laws to protect the environment yet corporate lobbyists, who put their interests (profits) over the well-being of the planet, trump the general public.
------------
Also from the article:
Americans' views of President Bush and his leadership have soured in the wake of dismay over the government's response to Hurricane Katrina, the course of the Iraq war and the future of the economy.

Bush's rating for handling each of those issues dropped to his lowest yet in a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday. Assessments of his personal qualities also fell: For the first time, a majority says he isn't a strong and decisive leader.

Bush's overall approval rating is 40%, equaling a previous low. His disapproval is 58%, a new high.

1. Just like with 9/11, the families and people effected by the debacle
will have to start a campaign for it. However, people whose lives have been destroyed aren't in any position to do this right now.

2. The 9/11 folks got (half of) a highly politicized report. We still haven't
seen part II.

3. I sent my state senators a scathing email about this issue
demanding an independent investigation. It will land on deaf ears because I live in NC and I'm stuck with Dole and Burr.
