13. We tried to tell you in your previous post, dR. O
Your last thread was locked; what does that tell you? As far as being "moderate", that's a self-described position. Tom DeLay calls himself a "moderate". I think I'll stick with my "extremist" "PC", "unrealistic" positions, thank you very much. Why don't you get together with other "moderates" and create a site of your very own?

18. Who says "I" got it locked?
Never assume, dear. I've never gone running to the administrators. Not once. My point is, if you're so unhappy here, you have a choice. Nobody's forcing you to stay.

30. We don't tolerate baiting freepers. Because we like to discuss.
Freepers and wing-nuts refuse to debate. I've been to other sites and they don't want a discussion. They just want to obfuscate. They are not interested in facts and ideas. Just the talking points.

Why would we bore ourselves to death with that? You can only have about 20 debates about how "fascism was actually a socialist thing " with 20 different freepers in a row before you realize their whole existence is about not discussing things at all.

Why would we let our time and interest be spent trying to work around people who want to stop the discussion?

P.S. Bush is a Scapegoating Christian.

4. The best way to do that is don't spend more than a 1/2 hour a day on DU.
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 09:57 AM by LoZoccolo
Then get involved with your local Democratic Party. The people who show up and get involved with real party functions tend to be a lot more grounded than people who can spend all day saying all sorts of fanciful things on the Internet and doing not much of anything else which doesn't involve complaining and wishing someone else would do something they like.

If you're in Illinois, may I suggest: http://www.illinoisdemnet.org

16. I should note that while people think I'm anti-DU...
...I'm not, because when it's good, it's really good. I get a lot of good links to useful things and good observations here all the time. It's just that I don't recommend that people get consumed with a lot of unproductive pursuits here, including trying to convince people who make it their hobby to whine about things and do not much else for their cause that their perspective is unrealistic.

19. I understand your frustration
But on this liberal, progressive, democratic website, you are going to be fried if you do not tow the party line. Accept it and don't take it personally or don't post comments that are not vetted by Alan Alda first.

And for god's sake, do not EVER imply that any person's favorite candidate is unelectable even if they are saying that they think their dog Bonzo would make the BEST CANDIDATE EVER...if he could just get some media attention.

24. What are you trying to prove, dR. O?
I could be wrong but I always believed that the "Democratic" in "Democratic Underground" refers to the Democratic Party. It doesn't mean this is a "democracy."

As far as I know it's a private site. As such it has every right both legally and morally to create it's own rules. The rules here are reasonably objective.

Have you tried raising your issue directly and civilly with those who actually make those rules? If not you are opening yourself to allegations that you are just a disrupter.

26. When you post the same stuff at FR and last as long as you have here,
we'll talk.

If DU was as extreme as you seem to believe it is, you would have been shown the exit a while ago.

Define "extremism," good doctor.

I don't find advocating health care for every citizen extreme. I don't find advocating civil rights extreme.

Just another way to point a finger at a group of people and say "You're different and inferior and I wont ever let you forget it".

It's no wonder you think we're extreme since you never seem to post in some of the incredibly intelligent and reaqsoned debate that occurs at DU.

I'm just saying...
