Bush’s Words on Iraq Echo LBJ in 1967: “We Shall Stay the Course”
September 21st, 2005

There have been suggestions and comparisons made regarding the Vietnam War and the Iraq War. The Bush administration always discounts those comparisons. However, AP writer Douglass K. Daniel, has put together a comparison of Bush on Iraq and LBJ on Vietnam in 1967, that shows striking similarites.

“America is committed to the defense of South Vietnam until an honorable peace can be negotiated,” Johnson told the Tennessee Legislature on March 15, 1967. Despite the obstacles to victory, the president said, “We shall stay the course.”

After 14 Marines died in a roadside bombing on Aug. 3, Bush declared: “We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. And the job is this: We’ll help the Iraqis develop a democracy.”

1. Stay the course says scumbag chickenhawk bush
sure, its not his money nor his life being lost in the worst war I seen
in all my 59 years. He cut and ran from Afghanistan, leaving a token number of soldiers to continue the fake hunt for Osama.Back in Dec 01'
Osama was trapped inside Tora Bora, bush ordered the troops to pull back and allow the Pakistani's {lol} to capture Osama. The Bush Crime
Family from day 1 had the oilfields in Iraq on their minds but how to
start a war in Iraq and square it with the American people. It didn't
work with me or half of America. It wont be long now before bush has
to shit or get off the bowl.America can't support an endless war in Iraq, repair and make whole Katrina victims and this new threat,"RITA"
So I hope the "Reich-wingers" wake the hell up and call for an end in
Iraq.
