"This could slip into a 25th Amendment situation..." (Bush back drinking?)
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 09:53 AM by StefanX
Is Bush Drinking Again?

First Capital Hill Blue, now the National Enquirer: slowly, but surely, this is going to reach the MSM. Gossip is usually tomorrow's news today.

Why do I trust the Natl Enquirer? They pay their sources. So someone close to the WH got a big fat check for this, over $10K. And if they deny this or lie, the Natl Enquirer has a file on them.

Faced with the biggest crisis of his political life, President Bush has hit the bottle again, The National Enquirer can reveal.

Great. We hardly need a drunk Bush running shit. And with Rita now a Catagory 5 hurricane, the most powerful storm to hit Texas, the entire gulf coast west of Pensacola to Matamoros could be a flooded wasteland.

If Rita does anything like the damage Katrina did, Bush could be in real trouble. We're already at $200b, Rita could add $100B to that.

With that kind of pressure and Bush's congential weakness, this could slip into a 25th Amendment situation more quickly than anyone would want to imagine. If Bush is drinking hard, how competent is he?

-- Steve Gilliard at The News Blog, Wednesday 21 Sept 2005

Amendment XXV, Section 4: "Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President."

5. Anyone thinking that the 25th amendment will be invoked vs. Chimpy
must be sharing the bottle with Chimpy. It takes the VP and a majority of the cabinet and its never, ever, gonna happen.

6. The National Enquirer writes BS in a way they can't be sued over
I can't believe anybody would seriously suggest we use the National Enquirer as a reliable source. Some of their sterling "journalism" of the past includes:

Clinton Love Child: The Scandal, The Son & The Mistress! An Amazing Tell All

Chelsea Clinton Collapses: She's medicated after fight with Daddy

Enron Had Wild Sex Parties And Clinton CIA Help

And these from 2005 and 2004:

Clinton & (Anthony) Hopkins Go Bikini Shopping

Clinton Vows To Stop Cheating After Terrifying Visions During Surgery

Clinton's New Lover Runs Over This Woman Right Outside Ex-Prez's Office

Clinton Cheating Again!

Clinton Sex Romp Caught On Video!

Are we now supposed to believe all their nonsense about Clinton, because we hate Smirk so much? Have we no standards left? Have we lost all dignity?

11. Even a stopped clock is right twice per day.
They could be correct by pure chance-- they write it thinking it's a lie, someone investigates, and coincidentally, it happens to be true.

IMHO, I think he never stopped drinking at all.

Haven't we seen recent pictures of Bush at parties with drinks in his hand?

My hunch is that yes, Bush is drinking, but no, The Enquirer doesn't have proof.

I think they're making a lucky guess.

14. Of course,
If its about Bush, its true, If its about Clinton, its a dirty lie.

Going after Chelsea was a crime against humanity. Going after the twins is a duty we all must share.

You've been here long enough.

You know black and white thinking dominates this board even though we pretend it doesn't.

We already know how fucking incompetent he is sober, the mind boggles at how much worse it could be.

13. More important than the story is the source
I can't remember how often Bush has been on the cover of hte National Enquirer--maybe cause I tune it out--but I think it shows that the nation wants to hear bad stuff about him which is another sign of his decline.

My theory is that he has been able to stay off the Enquirer because of his ratings and now he is fair game.

16. Chimpy anthraxed the Enquirer's publisher for priniting this picture....

....so I would suggest his replacement not fly on small airplanes any time soon.

As far as Monkey Boy's drinking, I wouldn't be surprised if he had been doing so all along. The "pretzel" story was obviously a coverup. And then there are all the press conferences with the Chimp slurring words and eyes so dilated that he looks like he has the alien virus from the X Files.

If Junior's incompetence drives ME to drink, it's gotta be doing the same to him.
