Who are the potential Repuke pres candidates?
I've been seeing many references to 'presidential ambitions' in news reports on prominent Repukes.

Here's the list I've compiled of potential candidates:

Newt Gingrich, Bill Frist, Haley Barbour, Jeb Bush, Dick Cheney, Mitt Romney, Rick Perry.

Anyone I'm missing?

They're all a bunch of corrupt crooks too. I'm starting to think that Wesley Clarke could be a great Dem candidate in '08.

1. McCain
Though I doubt the establishment would let him get the nomination. They're just leading him on so they can use him, and he still doesn't get it.

5. Perfect, Mr. Bronstein
That's a gem of succinct clarity. If desperate, of course, they might give him a shot since he has some bizarre crossover appeal from the gullible.

He's also nowhere near as moderate as many seem to think. Still, the Bush power bloc doesn't like him. In a way, McCain is like Clinton: constantly knuckling under to appease those who will destroy him at every turn.

4. I agree
I think Giuliani will ride 9-11 as far as the wave of terror can take him.

8. No way a pro-choice, pro- gun control
man who cheated on his wife will EVER get the nomination. 9/11 or not.

12. George Allen has "Presidential Ambition"
written all over him. Former Governor as well as Senator. Father was a prominent NFL coach.

Of course he's dumb as a doornail and a well-documented racist, but those are important GOP credentials.

I expect him to run. In the end, though, the nominee will be whoever the Bush Crime Family decides it will be.

9. Has Gov. Huckabee from Alabama hinted at running?
Saw him on Real Time a few weeks ago. He seemed likeable enough for a Repub.

13. That's an interesting view
And I think it's an accurate one. The Dems aren't linking the Bush admin problems (which are legion!) to the GOP as a whole and are missing an opportunity to seriously tarnish the country's perception of the whole party.

Running another milquetoast centrist will guarantee a Repuke president in '08 when what the country clearly needs is a reform-minded Dem who shows up in DC with his shit-kicking boots on and has Bush arrested for war crimes on the podium immediately after taking the oath of office.

Hagel (dunno how I missed him before) could be a credible candidate but I doubt he'll get the support of the religious right whos power and influence are at an all-time high.
