Well it's Official, the "Blame Game" has begun. Just heard Texas Governor |
|
blaming the people who are running out of gas in these bumper to bumper traffic jams while they are trying to evacuate Houston for running out of Gas (BTW, I've also heard that a lot of Gas station are either out of Gas or closed for other reasons).
I just heard him say that if people had followed his instructions to evacuate Houston/Gulf Coast area 2 days ago, they wouldn't be having these problems. It was on the NPR hourly News update.

to call Scotty McClellan. Old Scotty doesn't want anyone to play the "blame game."
I guess he didn't get the memo...

3. any red blooded right wing texan |
|
wouldn't need a gas station.
They would show individual initiative and a determination not to depend on handouts. They wouldn't whine about other people not providing them gasoline.
They would have an oilwell in their backyard, and their own mini-refinery. They would make their own gasoline like any other real american.
I mean it makes as much sense as Rush calling for "individual" levees in New Orleans.

It's the citizens fault for running out of gas because they were sitting in traffic for 18 hours and only moved 48 miles. S-U-R-E...its the people fault.

They had to expect that people would run out of gas when it was reported to be taking so long! Hummers and SUV's will go first.

(BTW, I've also heard that a lot of Gas station are either out of Gas or closed for other reasons).
There's only one station in Sugar Land that has gas. The news stations are listing places to fill up and there are only about ten in all of the metrocpolitan area.

22. Do you think they are really "Out of Gas" or could it be that... |
|
...some of them are shutting off the pumps and waiting for the price of Gas to spike to sell the Gas they have?
Nothing would surprise me, just after Karina hit and they started talking about how the 2 Gasoline Pipelines from Louisiana did not having electricity to pump the Gasoline through the pipelines, Gas stations in the Atlanta Metro area quickly jacked up the price to $5.50-$6.00 per Gallon.

You should see the lines for places that do have gas. Surely the stations would have made a fortune off of thousands of motorists needing gas (as opposed to those of us without gas who aren't going to leave the house now.)

18. I just got off the phone with a friend of mine here in town |
|
We both have relatives in the Houston area. Her parents in Tomball said I-45 is a parking lot and that people have turned off their engines and have begun pushing their vehicles to save gas, because people are burning up their gas trying to evacuate Houston.
I know that my cousin couldn't leave until yesterday because his work wouldn't let him leave.
So if Perry should be yelling at anyone, it should be the employers who wouldn't let their employees go with plenty of time to pack up and leave.
Tell Governor MoFo to go cheney himself....I'm sorry but that just chaps my hide.

If traffic isn't moving, wouldn't it be better to pull over, lock up the car and walk? Most of those poor folks who sat in their cars for 10 or 12 hours could have gone at least 20 miles on foot in the same period of time.
Its not the perfect solution, but at least it gets you out of the area.

23. Houston was only under voluntary evacuation for several crucial days |
|
Since original projections showed hurricane going further west towards Corpus Christi, Houston waited several crucial days under just voluntary evacuation requests. When I heard yesterday that Houston had still not been given mandatory evacuation order yet, I was concerned that they were waiting too long.
New FEMA director has also stated that families bear the responsibility themselves to get out of harm's way, setting groundwork to blame any victims for their plight.
