polls on IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL of ALL TROOPS from Iraq
in another DU thread, questions were raised about whether a majority of Americans and a majority of Democrats want to see IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF ALL U.S. TROOPS FROM IRAQ ... it is way past time for Democrats to start representing the majority ...

i'm posting this information to document that those calling for IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF ALL TROOPS represent the MAJORITY OF AMERICANS and the MAJORITY OF DEMOCRATS ...

source: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/17/politics/17poll.html
from a NY TIMES/CBS poll (9/17/05)

"When asked how long American troops should remain in Iraq, for example, 52 percent of people interviewed called for an immediate withdrawal, even if that means abandoning President Bush's goal of restoring stability to that country."

CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll in early August
Note: probably much higher after Katrina

"Among Democrats, 52% favored total withdrawal, 26% favored the withdrawal of some troops and 20% favored maintaining the current number of troops or sending more."

1. The numbers would be higher, but it's hard for some to admit a military
defeat. It goes against the macho American image.

I say stop the bleeding now.
