Edward Murphy has snorted too much oil

that's Ed Murphy of the American Petroleum Inst. who was on W.J. this morning.

he said in the scheme of things, refineries make small profits (yeah, he did). and that refineries close because they are not making money.

he said there was no peak oil. that with wonderful new technologies we would have oil forever. naught to worry. and in the same breath he said that by the time oil was running out we would have developed new fuel sources.

when asked, repeatedly, to explain the high prices, his answers were always that somebody else sets the prices, not american oil men. and he drove way around the subject of the obscene profits of the oil companies, never answering.

callers who had worked in the oil business took him to task which made him purse his lips.

toward the end of his time he began to garble and got that anal look.
