THE MYSTERIOUS RAMSEY CLARK:
THE MYSTERIOUS RAMSEY CLARK:
STALINIST DUPE OR DEEP-COVER SPOOK?

By Manny Goldstein

Take a close look and there is something downright suspicious about former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, now the darling of certain sectors of the radical left. His journey has taken him from the heights of federal power to outer orbits of the political fringe. In the process, he has seemingly transformed from a shill for the most corrupt elements of the US elites to a shill for any foreign despot who claims to oppose the US elites. Who is Ramsey Clark really working for?

Walt Starr got me to wondering who ANSWER is and I was quite surprised to find out that they were organized on 9/14/01. Seems suspect to me.

I found this link through Wilipedia that I found disturbing. http://www.infoshop.org/texts/wwp.html

I didn't know much about the WWP, but here is someone who ran for Sheriff of San Fransisco in 1994, I have no idea if this is true, but, if it is, God help us.....

But what bothered me the most was this story about Clark. I've never really looked deep into his biography and always assumed he was one of the good guys...now, I'm not so sure. I think the title of this post says it all.

2. Answer: STALINIST DUPE
It's about time Democratic Underground figured out that Ramsey Clark is doing a serious disservice to their cause. He's not a progressive. He's a fringe political kook of the worse kind.

9. I agree 100%
He and his organizations are not progressive. They will shill for any dictator who is currently in conflict with the US. The Ayatollah, Milosevic, Saddam---they have publicly shilled for all of them and more.

3. Ramsey Clark is wrong on a number of things and
a number if levels. I encourage everyone to get to know as much about him, the policies, and the people he supports before you assume he's the folk hero of the Left most of his followers would have you believe. He is somply not what he has been made to seem at all.

7. The article is not actually that good ...
there is much guilt by association and mere insinuations of improper behavior and more importantly, motivation which is always the bastion of the fact challenged.

8. Oh, geeze, people, can't you see that that poster is an obvious fake
It's a rightwing parody of a leftist candidate. Read it again, including the "endorsements" and tell me it's not. ("Knights Templar, Paul Dumpster, Amagamated Toxic Waste Workers USA, Working (really hard) Assets"? Come on!)

Ramsey Clark has been right more than he's been wrong, and while I don't agree with everything he's done, the righties are gunning for him.

16. Well, I didn't read the fine print....my bad.
This did sound extreme to the max, but the whole WWP appears to be pretty extreme to the max. So, I guess I have no way to confirm the veracity of this document. Wierd, though.

I dunno, I think it would be a good idea to get an organization like Progressive Democrats of America to take a active role in thiese rallies. I have no idea what the agendaes are of every group under the ANSWER umbrella, but all it takes is one to really discredit the good intentions of the entire movement.

17. I had never seen Ramsey Clark before. Saw a couple of books
of his when I went to the Bookateria the other day. Didn't pick them up. I saw him later yesterday when he was speaking at the protest. He reminded me so much of the drunk air ace on Independence Day. Just couldn't get it out of my mind the whole time I was listening to him. Turned it off not too far into his speech. Thought the ANSWER people were off message - or rather - in their own little world.

18. Kevin Coogan on ANSWER, the IAC, WWP & Clark
written (IIRC) in early 2002:

International Action Center: Peace Activists With A Secret Agenda?
http://www.thirdrailmag.com/archives/s02/content/6.htm

(btw - Kevin Coogan is a great anti-fascist researcher whose biography of Francis Parker Yockey is an absolute must read)

The article is slightly outdated now in that the WWP split in 2004 over running a candidate for President. The splinter group - The Socialism and Liberation Party - contains the West Coast activists who were largely behind the IAC/ANSWER. This is their website:
