Let's stop attacking FDR, O.K! |
|
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2112316&mesg_id=2112316I don't see one single FReeper thread with negative things being said about Reagan. So let's respect FDR. He saved this country, TWICE.

amazing, amazing man. He also gave us Truman, another amazing man. The only Republican i think of with such esteem is Lincoln and he was essentially...a democrat!! haha, who knows.

I agree... freepers would NEVER attack Reagan, and they WORSIP "W".
Neither of them is fit to be in the same SENTENCE as FDR, so knock it off!

6. There's nothing wrong with being truthful |
|
And discuss controversial issues candidly.
Being able to see faults in our leaders is what seperates us from the FReepers.

7. I disagree, I love FDR, but it is okay to point out the truth |

In instances like this, you have to look at things in prespective. When FDR came to office, the country was literally on the verge of falling on apart. There were radical movements on both sides to totally throw out the constitution and install a dictator, just like in Germany, Italy, and Russia.
FDR's leadership kept this country together. Did he do some things that were questionable and that I disagree with? Yes, he did. But nobody is perfect.
BTW, I think it was Barbara Boxer who pointed out that it was an OVERWHELMINGLY Democratic Congress that refused to allow FDR to pack the Supreme Court. I don't think that we would ever come close to seeing anything like that under Emperor Bush and the GOP Congress.

Repetition doesn't make a lie the truth (I forgot his exact words).
