Clark/Gore, Gore/Clark, why?
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 10:34 PM by usregimechange
Because we knew the war in Iraq was wrong and now, so does America!

23. Yeah!
I, for one, don't want someone that is pushed upon us by the DLC. I want somebody a little out of the mainsteam and more independent. That's one of the reasons I'm so gung ho on Gore. I want someone who is against the war in Iraq, who is very pro-environment, who is smart and articulate, who will look out for the poor and middle class, who will work toward rebuilding our reputation to the world, AND who isn't ashamed of being a DEMOCRAT and of having liberal (i.e., tolerant and compassionate) values. Most of all, I want someone I can trust.

I wish we could have a third party for the "true" Democrats like Boxer, Conyers, Gore, and others. I'd dump all of those damn DINOs in a heartbeat!!!

3. I was having that dream myself earlier this evening.
Who cares about geographical balance. To me it's a dream ticket either way. As much as I have pushed for Clark, I still thing Gore deserves to be re-elected.

4. Gore should get the chance to be the president he was supposed to be
Who could have fought the SC?
Besides that he has lots of class.
I've always considered him my president.

5. Now that Gore has found his voice - and his moral core, I've been
thinking he is probably our strongest candidate. I would have no hesitation backing a Gore/Clark ticket. At least these two had no problem finding the right side of the ethical and legal divide that was the Iraqi war.

I have vowed to myself that I will never again work, and not sure I'd even vote, for someone who voted to give the boy-king the authority to attack Iraq -- yes, Hillary -- that includes you.

7. Neither - - Clark for SoS, Gore for EPA, instead....
Lincoln/Warner or Lincoln/Feingold should be the ticket for 2008.

17. Yes, Clark could be SOS...Its Secretary of Defense he's barred from
until he had been out of the military for 10 years.

8. Why Clark at all?
Leave him alone and let him enjoy time away from the spotlight.

Let's leave the presidential race to people who actually know something about legislating.

10. Presidents don't legislate....
they lead and they macro manage--meaning they need organizational executive skills. That's not legislating. That's what congress does...which is why Senators don't often become President.

19. Yeah, since presidents do so much legislating...
:sarcasm:

The LAST thing we need for our nominee or his/her running mate is another legislator.

Nor do I understand what time away from the spotlight you're talking about. Clark has been everywhere, speaking out about Bush screw-ups and, more importantly, working to get Democrats fighting together against them, and especially trying to set the stage for electing more Democrats in 2006. Hell, he's getting more media "spotlight" than he did in the last month of his campaign. Which I'll grant you, isn't much. But it's not because he's not out there.

Since you're obviously not paying attention, here's a list of what Clark has been up to for the last 30 days alone:

August 22nd: NPR "Morning Edition" interview - NATO and Darfur

August 26th: Washington Post Op-Ed "Before It's Too Late in Iraq" - Online Q&A

August 28th: "Meet the Press" - "War Council" with General McCaffrey; General Meigs and General Downing discussing the war on terror/Iraq

August 29th-September 2nd: Blogging at Talking Points Memo Cafe

August 30th: Wisconsin Public Radio - Iraq and the war on terror

August 30th: 11AM - Madison WI, WesPac Fundraiser, American Table Family Restaurant

August 30th: 12PM - Madison, WI, Fundraiser luncheon for the Wisconsin Democratic Party, Inn on the Park; press conference with veterans; will endorse endorse Gov Doyle/Lt Gov Lawton

August 30th: 3 PM - Boys & Girls Club, La Crosse with U.S. Rep Ron Kind

August 30th: 5PM - Private fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Ron Kind

August 30th: 6:00PM - La Crosse, WI, 4th Annual Wisconsin Corn Roast at the La Crosse County Fairground, West Salem

August 31st: Iowa Democratic Party fundraising breakfast, Decorah

August 31st: Air America's "The Majority Report" - on terrorism, Hurricane Katrina and the National Guard

August 31st: 12PM - Democratic Activists Lunch, Mason City, Iowa

August 31st: 4PM - Democratic Activists Meeting, Emmetsburg, Iowa

August 31st: 6PM - WesPac fundraiser, Okoboji, Iowa

September 1st: 7:30AM - WesPac fundraiser, Sioux City, Iowa

September 1st: Alan Colmes radio show - Global Warming, Bush's poor handling of New Orleans disaster, and against timelines with respect to Iraq

September 2nd-4th: Villa d'Este International Workshop, Ambrosetti Strategic Workshop on Global Economy, Cernobbio, Italy

September 5th: Fox News, "Rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina"

September 6th-7th: Terrorism, Security & America's Purpose Conference, Washington DC, Featured Speaker

September 8th: AFSCME Congressional Candidate Boot Camp, Phoenix, AZ, Guest Speaker

and emailed our congress critters many many times urging them not to vote for the IWR. We called and emailed Hillary, Edwards, Kerry and the rest. They did not listen to us. "We" rallied and marched by the millions against this evil and bogus invasion. If you were fooled, please speak for yourself. Many across the world were not fooled.

18. Any non-politicians on the horizon?
I'm for cleaning house....starting essentially from scratch post-revolution.

So many of us are skeptical of lifetime politicians, or even those who've been on the political scene at all during the * Administration.

Any non-politicos out there we might be able to get behind in some capacity? Someone all but the RW crazies could be open to?

24. Clark is not a politico.
I've payed attention to him as best I can, and I've never EVER seen him put "his finger to the wind", so to speak

Michael Moore said regarding the Democratic primaries: "General Clark could never bring himself to lie about anything; he just couldn't do it."

Besides all that, he's a man of wisdom and compassion.

I certainly advocated for a Heavy Medal Ticket for National Security Election 2004 ....but I was overuled by "youthful optimism" sold by the media.

27. As you know, Frenchie
I wasn't Clark for VP; I was Clark for SoS. I never thought he wanted to be VP, but I know he would have seen it as a call to service to a Kerry presidency and would have done it. I agree with you, though, it would have been a winning ticket.
