I predict Cindy Sheehan will be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and
Win

There are many reasons for this:

If you look at past recipients and the force of one persons action that has changed the paradigm of political realties for peace.

4. This not so far off of a bet if you look at the Nobel Prize History.
http://almaz.com/nobel/peace/peace.html
Martin Luther King won in 1964 in very tough times here in the states for human rights

excerpt from Nobel speech:
"Granted that we face a world crisis which leaves us standing so often amid the surging murmur of life's restless sea. But every crisis has both its dangers and its opportunities. It can spell either salvation or doom. In a dark confused world the kingdom of God may yet reign in the hearts of men."

BETTY WILLIAMS& MAIREAD CORRIGAN
won 1976 for their work in Northern Ireland in tough times

DESMOND MPILO TUTU
won he tough times in South Africa

1984 Nobel Peace Prize

13. Are you actually comparing Cindy Sheehan with the above people?
She's doing fine things, but she's no Martin Luther King.

14. No she is not Martin Luther King but is a catalyst to change as were many
others who received the prize and did not have one tenth of the bearing of MLK.

The point is, this is not hero worship, but part of the catalysts that is needed to help changed this criminal regime. It is not a USA, USA thing but a world thing. The Swedes aren't dumb.

Many were nominated when the fight had just begun to bring peace.

7. I don't think her position is sufficiently theoretically grounded yet to
get the attenion of the Nobel committee.

At the very least, she'd have to write a book-length version of her argument, or set up a foundation that carried out her philosophy of activism.

20. No, I'm serious.
Look at who has won the prize.

Most have at least written books on their philosophy. People in developing nations have built organizations around expressing their philosophy.

I think Cindy Sheehan is fantastic and hope she does kick it up a notch or two so that she does what's necessary to win a Nobel.

21. After LBJ passed the CRA, he told MLK that there was no way he
was going to be able to pass the Voting Rights Act. LBJ told MLK that he had just blown all his political capital and that it would be impossible to do any more for a generation.

MLK went down to Selma and started marching. The Voting Rights Act was passed within months.

Jim Wallis writes about this in God's Politics.
