Always remember and never forget that Tom Delay...
was not indicted by Ronnie Earle, he was indicted by the Travis County Grand Jury.

They can scream "partisan witch hunt" all they want, but grand juries indict on EVIDENCE of a case.

If Earle went witch-hunting, he "got himself a witch."

2. How many people on a grand jury in Texas?
I think the number varies from state to state. I'd like to point out to freepers that "X number of Texans indicted DeLay, not the DA".

6. After mentioning it
It might be a good idea to tap him gently on the head with a shovel to make sure he got the message.

10. Yes, I know the saying...
"prosecutors can indict a ham sandwich," as if members of a grand jury are without brains. There are many "ham sandwiches" that prosecutors have tried to indict that grand juries refused to indict. The point being, you need to prove to a grand jury that you have a case that more than likely you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt. The GJ that brought indictment against DeLay has been sitting for how many months? Eighteen? Earle wants a conviction. He's got the proof. Now, all he needs is a trial or a plea bargain. I'll bet Tom DeLay pleads guilty to keep from going to jail for two years.

12. Yep. I'll take bets on what happens...
What do you think.

1. The indictment gets thrown out because of a lack of evidence.
2. The case goes to trial, and DeLay is found innocent.
3. The case goes to trial, and Delay is convicted and sentenced.
4. DeLay accepts a plea bargain by pleading guilty to avoid jail time.
5. DeLay receives a presidential pardon.

13. I'm looking forward to #3.
But that would likely be followed by #5. #1,#2, and #4 are probably even odds.

On edit: Which, of course, does not rule out #5. All I can hope for in that regard is that * is impeached and removed from office before he remembers to pardon BugBoy.
