Dear Freepers, If the Tom Delay scandal is a political ploy...
on the part of Democrats to smear him and ruin his political career, I would not support that. I would find that morally reprehensible. Probably just as repugnant as the way your party leaders have smeared John Kerry and called him a traitor. Or the way you smeared Max Cleland. {That one.. whoa. Low, very very low fellas} Or the way you smeared Sen. McCain. I find all of these acts repugnant and would not support doing the same to any person in our country for any reason. I just find it wrong. If a member or our party used the justice system for political retribution, I would support criminal charges against that individual.

However, you have to understand how very happy I am about this indictment. For a long time, these people have gone beyond the pale time and again. They have thrust themselves into my life in a very disturbing way. To me, they are indeed evil men and I am glad that the law is finally acting to end their reign.

You also must understand that I am eagerly awaiting more indictments. Soon Bill Frist may face a Grand Jury Indictment. That is good news to me. I believe an ex-FBI translator has leveled a charge of treason against Dennis Hastert. Nice. And of course, Karl Rove, Libby, Bolton and hopefully Cheney are looking down the wrong end of yet another Grand Jury investigation. That to me is sweet, sweet music.

Now, in my wildest dreams, there lies the shining light of an impeachment for GWB. I'm not looking forward to this because of Clinton and the blow-job. I frankly don't care about that. That was stupid and you know it. No, an impeachment would mean that my neighbors reject your fucked up plans to try and shape the world in your image. I don't want to live in your world. I can't imagine anyone I ever met, save a few very creepy people, who would want to live in your world. Your world is frightening, filled with terror and despair and self-loathing. I don't like it. The Impeachment of GWB would send a very clear message that the true American spirit rejects such hate-filled ideology. That's why I'd be happy and that's why I am happy now.

I don't want this to be some cheap political trick. I want these "evil-doers" out of my government. I promise you, I want them out for better reasons than you wanted Clinton out. I'm sorry for your misery and the long string of miseries to come. But there is something pleasingly ironic in the fact that the first thing to fall in your terror campaign is the "Hammer".

P.S. Good Luck in '06.

4. DeLay is the tip of the iceberg.
He IS the Republican power on the Hill. The rest are a bunch of collective rubber stampers. These people are now leaderless and rudderless.....the implosion begins. And we still have many dots yet to be connected.

Abramoff * Al Qaeda money * DeLay * Norquist * Rove * Plame

6. simply put:
This is about justice: paying the price for his own crimes. And there is nothing shameful about being happy that someone is brought to justice.

Is this political?

You betchurass.

Is Delay guilty as sin and a hundred times as slimey?

(See response to question #1.)

Just for once, I'd LOVE someone to say, you bet this is politics. And you can have that with a side of Freedom Fries.

When did "politics" become a dirty word? Like "liberal" and "choice" and "protest" and, and, and . . . duck, it's the WORD POLICE!

This is about the people, and that's where the word comes from:

Merriam Webster:

Main Entry: po·lit·i·cal
Pronunciation: p&-'li-ti-k&l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin politicus
1 a : of or relating to government, a government, or the conduct of government b : of, relating to, or concerned with the making as distinguished from the administration of governmental policy
2 : of, relating to, involving, or involved in politics and especially party politics
3 : organized in governmental terms <political units>
4 : involving or charged or concerned with acts against a government or a political system <political prisoners>
- po·lit·i·cal·ly /-k(&-)lE/ adverb

Is this about the polity, the people?

You betchurass. And here's a double order of politics to go with.

And just to freak your freeper selves out as much as possible, my whole extended family makes it a point to be as POLITICAL AS POSSIBLE every day. Good for the circulation.

:hi:

I don't give a shit!

That's right. You and your henchmen hounded Bill Clinton for 8 fucking years. It's payback time motherf*cka, enjoy!

See, I'm just not as magnanimous as the OP. I want revenge for every single one of these fuckers. And Tom Delay is as good a place to start as any!

11. "if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!!"
http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/1203/p01s04-usgn.html

"Unlike most states, Texas does not give its attorney general the power to prosecute criminal acts at the state level. That task goes to the Travis County district attorney - a responsibility Earle took on, forming a public-integrity unit to look into such abuses.

Over the years, there have been bills to defund the controversial unit and to transfer its power to the attorney general's office. But the unit has persisted and Earle has prosecuted 12 Democrats and three Republicans - most of them successfully."

If Ronnie Earle is partison, he has been very soft on the Republicans.

the DA Earle just produced the evidence. I call that justice at work.

15. Great post! Did the freepsters expect DeLay's opponents to
"play fair" and defeat him "legitimately" in a political race?? And how are DeLay's opponents supposed to do THAT when DeLay himself has stacked the deck by fraudulently imposing redistricting in TX (not to mention that DeLay's and Bush's cronies own and program the voting machines anyway)?
